Just when it seems everything in the economy is down, comes this news. Michigan is eligible to get more than $17 million, up from $12.3 million in 2012 and from 2010 when Michigan received a record $16.1 million in proceeds from federal excise taxes. The more gun-grabbers talk, the more wildlife benefits. The irony is here…
In Barry Township, teachers are being trained by a veteran police officer, Victor Pierce, to protect students. During the 12-week course, participants get 60 hours of training about the law, application and use of force, defensive tactics, handgun use and safety, and other basics. Why should honest, law-abiding citizens cave in to the proposed gun registration scheme being proposed? Consider this: ruled in Haynes vs. U.S. (1968) that convicted felons have a Constitutional right to not register a gun, because to register a gun would be self-incrimination. Only people that aren’t criminals can be punished for not registering. If the criminals aren’t required to register, but you and I are, why bother?
Anti-gun Sen. Charles Schumer’s staff is leaking out to the press the Oklahoma Sen. Tom Coburn is “on the verge” of caving in and agreeing to a ban on private gun sales — and requiring virtually every American to get the government’s approval before exercising their constitutional right to become a gun owner. According to The Washington Post (2/23/13), the remaining sticking point is Coburn’s reluctance to require a 4473 for every private transaction. Were this to occur, ATF’s practice of going into gun stores and copying all the 4473’s — a practice which has been documented by GOA — would soon produce a national gun registry. Read more

State Rep. John Townsend (D -Royal Oak) is poised to introduce more gun-control legislation while Republican counterparts Republican counterparts in Lansing have already proposed laws that essentially would exclude Michiganders from similar calls for more gun control from the Obama administration. I just wish Mr. Townsend and others of his ilk, can explain their interpretation of “…shall not be infringed.” Details of the misguided plan are here…
