Taurus 66 Combat 357 Revolver

Some people say that revolvers are dead. Some people say that there’s no place for a revolver as a modern concealed carry gun. Those people are wrong.

[Bainbridge, GA] – Taurus USA is proud to introduce the Taurus 66 Combat, the ultimate modern fighting revolver! Medium frame revolvers chambered in 357 Magnum have long been regarded by experts as excellent choices for personal protection, and now the 66 Combat is the final word in fighting revolvers thanks to its incredible list of features:

7 shot capacity: The Taurus 66 Combat is based on Taurus’ successful model 66 revolver, which unlike other medium frame revolvers features a 7 shot 357 Magnum cylinder, giving shooters a 15% increase in capacity.

357 Magnum chambering: this allows the 66 Combat to chamber a variety of rounds, from full house 357 Magnums down to light target loaded 38 Special, and everything in between.

High visibility fiber optic front sight: the fiber optic front sight is perfect for fast target acquisition, and aligns well with the squared off rear sight channel for a crisp, yet fast, sight picture.

Optics-Ready: Additionally, the 66 Combat comes drilled and tapped for the Taurus Optics Ready Option plates, sold separately on www.ShopTaurus.com, so that owners can add optics to their pistol for even faster target acquisition and improved long range accuracy.

3-Inch Barrel: The 3-inch barrel selected for the Taurus 66 Combat balances two key elements, concealability and performance. 3 inches allows most 357 Magnum loads to generate sufficient velocity to achieve ideal terminal ballistics, while balancing the guns concealability by decreasing the overall length.

Combat Tuned Trigger: Saving the best for last is the Taurus 66 Combat’s trigger. This trigger takes the already excellent trigger on the Taurus medium frame revolvers and tunes it for double action only, eliminating the hammer spur for fast draw and creating a smooth-as-glass rolling trigger pull that delight any shooter.

The Taurus 66 Combat was crafted with input from serious revolver shooters, trainers, and end users. It is the definitive statement on what makes a revolver good and would be an excellent choice for concealed carry and home defense models, making it versatile and user-friendly for experienced and new users alike.

SAF Files Appellate Brief Challenging Medical Marijuana 2A Ban

BELLEVUE, Wash. —— The Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) has filed its opening brief with the Third Circuit in its case challenging the federal ban on gun ownership by medical marijuana users.

Greene v. Bondi is now on appeal before the Third Circuit from a district court opinion dismissing the suit. SAF is joined in the case by two private citizens – Warren County, Pa., District Attorney Robert Greene and James Irey. Greene currently possesses a medical marijuana ID card (MMID) under Pennsylvania law and desires to possess firearms and ammunition. Irey is a disabled veteran who wishes to obtain a MMID to treat his service-related injuries but not forfeit his Second Amendment rights in the process.

“Unlike prescription pain pills, marijuana is federally classified as a Schedule 1 narcotic, even if a state has legalized it for medical purposes,” said SAF Executive Director Adam Kraut. “That poses a dilemma for anyone who legally uses medical marijuana – either give up your Second Amendment rights or receive relief from your symptoms. This is an absurd choice to force someone to make, especially given that anyone taking prescription pain killers, such as oxycodone, are allowed to purchase firearms.” Read more

Hunting in Warm Weather Requires Extra Care to Prevent Meat from Spoiling

Plan ahead to ensure you end up with quality game meat in the freezer.

Some early season hunting opportunities have already begun in Idaho, with additional archery seasons and moose hunts starting in September. While early season hunts can provide an excellent opportunity to harvest a big game animal, warm weather brings additional challenges when it comes to properly caring for game meat to prevent it from spoiling, especially when dealing with larger animals like moose and elk.

The key to preserving meat in hot weather is to begin the cooling process as quickly as possible. Meat spoils the quickest around the ball joints in the hip and underneath the front shoulders. Your harvest should be immediately skinned, reduced to quarters, and quickly transported to cold storage. In larger animals it may even be necessary to make some cuts in between muscles to the bone to allow heat to escape. Larger muscle masses take a long time to cool, and meat can spoil in a matter of hours if heat cannot escape.

Failure to cool meat down fast enough may result in what is commonly referred to as bone souring. Read more

Fall electrofishing surveys to start soon as Michigan DNR checks on young walleye

Sept. 3, 2025

Contact: Emily Martin, 231-495-1310 or John Bauman, 906-786-2351

A Michigan Department of Natural Resources crew conducts a nighttime electrofishing survey.Planning to be on the water this fall? Be on the lookout for Michigan Department of Natural Resources personnel conducting nighttime walleye recruitment surveys from late September to mid-October.

These surveys are an important tool for fisheries managers to determine whether walleye that hatched in the spring (known as young-of-year) hatched in the wild or were stocked, as well as how many of those fish are present in an area. This information about the status of young walleye in lakes helps the DNR make informed management decisions.

Using electrofishing boats, crews will survey shallow areas near the shoreline of lakes at night with the goal of capturing young-of-year walleye. Read more

Michigan DNR Confirms State’s First Cases of EHD for 2025

Public is encouraged to continue reporting sick or dead deer

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is reporting Michigan’s first detected cases of epizootic hemorrhagic disease in 2025.

The DNR Wildlife Health Section, Michigan State University Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory and the Southeastern Cooperative Wildlife Disease Study confirmed the EHD virus in free-ranging white-tailed deer from Eaton, Jackson, Van Buren and Washtenaw counties. As samples are submitted from additional counties, any further detections will be posted on the DNR’s EHD webpage.

EHD is a viral, sometimes fatal disease that periodically affects white-tailed deer in Michigan. It is transmitted through the bite of an infected midge, or biting fly. Deer cannot transmit the disease directly to one another; the virus must pass through the insect. Read more

Chiappa’s 86 Wildlands Angle Ejection Takedown

A great firearm comes from heritage and prestige, with a cultivated history sought after over other options. Nothing fits that definition better than the lever-action rifle. The design has been cemented into culture since its inception and requires few, if any, changes. Chiappa continues the tradition with the 86 Wildlands Angle Ejection Takedown, a firearm worth the heritage and a close look.

The 86 Wildlands Angle Ejection Takedown is a modern take on the old lever-action classic. Chambered in 45/70, it is a fully capable rifle that moves to add modern characteristics. Built with a 1:18 twist 16.5-inch barrel and a magazine tube capacity of 4+1, it is a heavy hitter that can easily follow up, shot after shot. The barrel is 5/8×24 threaded to attach muzzle devices, accept thread protectors, recoil mitigation devices, or suppressors.

The stock is skeletonized with an adjustable comb and outfitted with an attachment point for accessories or cartridge holders. An integrated adjustable cheek rest allows for precise comfort. The forend is made from overbuilt aluminum with M-LOK adaptability and features an over receiver rail for optics attachments. The lever is wrapped in black paracord for easy use and comfortable operation.

The 86 Wildlands Angle Ejection Takedown is finished in a matte blued style, adding a tactical look and style. Once fired, spent cases are ejected to the side, accommodating any optic. Read more
