Tavor X95 300 Blackout at Eurosatory

Israel Weapon Industries (IWI) – a leader in the production of combat-proven small arms for law enforcement agencies as well as governments and armies around the world – marks TAVOR’s decade of excellence in combat. The company will present, for the first time, the military version of the X95 assault rifle in .300 AAC Blackout caliber.According to Uri Amit, IWI’s President and CEO, “We are currently celebrating TAVOR’s decade of successful military operation. The TAVOR became the first new generation bullpup rifle to achieve such popularity in such a short time; in only ten years it has been adopted by dozens of armies and units around the world. The TAVOR was developed in response to the evolving changes in the battlefield, which required a versatile weapon to support fighting in both Close Quarters Battle (CQB) and in open areas. Reaching the highest levels of accuracy in ranges of up to 500 meters, the TAVOR has excellent ergonomics, making it easier for the fighter to operate it on the battlefield.”

For the first time at Eurosatory, the company will present the X95 (MICRO TAVOR) assault rifle in .300 AAC Blackout caliber – making the X95 a multi-caliber platform with the ability to switch to any of 4 calibers (5.56X45mm, 9mm, 5.45X39mm, and now – 7.62×35 mm). The conversion is easily accomplished, requiring only a change of the barrel. Due to the fact that the BLK 300 and the 5.56mm ammunition have the same dimensions, they both use the same standard AR magazine. Since a wide variety of ammunition can be used for the BLK 300 caliber, the rifle can be silenced at a very high level, which is not possible with the current 5.56mm ammunition.

New Arctic grayling initiative could bring historical species back to Michigan’s waters

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources, in partnership with the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians, has announced a proposed initiative that aims to bring back an extirpated species to the state – Arctic grayling. The proposed initiative, announced at today’s Natural Resources Commission meeting in Gaylord, will seek to establish self-sustaining populations of Arctic grayling throughout its historical range. The initiative is a proposed objective in the DNR’s 2017 Inland Trout Management Plan, which currently is being drafted.

The Arctic grayling is a native and iconic fish species in Michigan. Slate blue in color, they have a sail-like dorsal fin and were virtually the only native stream salmonid in the Lower Peninsula. In the lower 48 states they are native only to Michigan and Montana, further cementing their legendary status.

Michigan’s native grayling population died off nearly a century ago due to statewide logging efforts of the 1800s, over-fishing and general habitat destruction. Read more

Hogue Inc. Announces Rem. 700 OverMolded Stock

Hogue Incorporated is pleased to announce their OverMolded® rubber stock for the Remington 700 that now accommodates an Accuracy International (AICS) detachable box magazine. With the growing popularity of using a detachable box magazine with bolt action rifles, Hogue manufactured a stock that comes cut with what’s known as a “Badger inlet” and readily accepts M5 pattern bottom metal for a detachable box magazine. The inlet in the factory stock on the Remington 700 is too small to accommodate a bottom plate for a detachable box magazine. The inlet that needs to be cut has popularly become known as a “Badger inlet,” so in an effort to eliminate the burden of alterations for the end user, Hogue designed a stock that already comes cut with the inlet and fits the Remington 700 perfectly. The benefits are two-fold. First, the shooter has a much more comfortable and sturdy stock composed of Hogue’s OverMolded rubber, and secondly he or she is able to “turn grandpa’s bolt action rifle into a modern military sporting weapon,” stated owner Pat Hogue. “There’s really no better way to manage ammunition while using a bolt action rifle.” Read more
