Browning adds two new models to the 1911-380 semi auto pistol line for 2016, the Black Label 1911-380 Pro and Black Label 1911-380 Pro with rail. Like other models in the 1911-380 family of pistols, these new 380 ACP cartridge pistols are scaled down, 15% smaller versions of the original 45 ACP chambered model designed by John M. Browning.

The two new models are available with either steel three-dot combat sights or night sights. The grips are made of G-10 composite. The rust-resistant barrel is 4 ¼” long and includes a target crown. QDMA and Powderhook Release 2016 Edition of Deer Tracker App


ATHENS, GA (September 22, 2016) – QDMA and Powderhook are pleased to release the 2016 update to “Deer Tracker,” a popular free app that allows hunters to monitor deer activity and harvests in their neck of the woods and across the country. New interactive features allow users to estimate the age and score of bucks in posted photos as well as locate nearby public hunting land.Deer Tracker is a free app, thanks to the partnership between QDMA, Powderhook, Cabela’s, Hunting Lease Network, Fusion Ammunition and Yamaha.

QDMA’s Deer Tracker app allows hunters to submit reports based on observed deer activity or deer they harvest. Based on this user-driven data, the app generates a heat map estimating the likelihood of seeing deer activity during hunting hours in a selected area. The locations of users are generalized, so it is impossible to pinpoint actual properties where reports originated.

New in 2016, any observation or harvest report with a photo includes “Age This” and “Score This” buttons to help users get opinions from fellow users. The age most selected by participants is shown as DT Age in the report. QDMA encourages hunters to learn to estimate ages of live bucks, since selecting bucks for harvest based on age is the most effective way to improve a deer population and create a more natural age distribution among bucks. AFB Issues Statement Regarding Senate Report on Federal Overreach Under Clean Water Act

WASHINGTON— – “The Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works today released a report that exposes the administration’s reckless and unlawful actions in enforcing the Clean Water Act. The report shows in detail how the Environmental Protection Agency and Army Corps of Engineers have used an overly expansive interpretation of their authority to regulate ‘waters of the U.S.’

“The case studies presented in the report reflect the serious concerns we have raised for more than two years now: the new ‘Waters of the U.S.’ rule takes the EPA’s and Corps’ longstanding regulatory overreach and gives it a new name. Michigan: Surplus Salmon Available to Public

Fish available at several retailers in Brethren, East Tawas and Oscoda

The public is invited again this year to purchase surplus salmon that has been harvested at Michigan Department of Natural Resources weirs located in the northern Lower Peninsula.

Seasonal salmon runs include large numbers of fish returning to their native streams to spawn and die. The DNR maintains multiple sites (weirs) where fisheries biologists and technicians collect eggs and milt (sperm) from Chinook and coho salmon for use in state fish hatcheries. Once egg-take needs are met, fish in prime physical condition are made available to the public by American-Canadian Fisheries (ACF), a private vendor that assists the DNR with the salmon harvest. CCRKBA Rips Media For Coverage of Mall Hero


BELLEVUE, WA – The “mainstream press” is once again trying to spin away from positive coverage about armed citizens and the fallacy of so-called “gun-free zones” in its reports about the St. Cloud, Minnesota mall shooting and the hero shooter, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today.

“There have been very few references to the fact that Jason Falconer owns and operates a private business in which he teaches firearms and self-defense skills to armed private citizens,” noted CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “He is a firearms instructor and competitive shooter, and his skill with firearms certainly paid off for the citizens of St. Cloud last Saturday.

“The media has made only passing reference to the fact that Mr. Falconer was out of his police jurisdiction, and off duty at the time of the shooting,” Gottlieb added. “In effect, he was essentially an armed citizen on a shopping trip to the mall who acted in defense of himself and others who were attacked by a dangerous man armed with a knife.”

Crossroads Center’s website lists a “code of conduct” that includes a prohibition on “firearms and illegal weapons.” Gottlieb said it was fortunate that Falconer was armed despite this prohibition, because having a gun stopped the carnage and may have saved lives.

“How many times must it be repeated before the public understands that ‘gun-free zones’ can be magnets for mayhem,” Gottlieb wondered. “It goes against all common sense that malls and other public venues would mandate disarming visitors, thus leaving them vulnerable to attack. Read more

The media has noted over the last 24 hours that the St. Cloud, Minnesota mall in which the September 17 mass stabbing occurred is a “gun free zone” that expressly forbids “firearms or illegal weapons.” Fortunately, the attack was stopped by an off-duty police officer, Jason Falcone, who carried his gun with him, the “gun free” policy notwithstanding.

Of note, Officer Falcone is also a certified firearms instructor with the U.S. Concealed Carry Association (USCCA).

Tim Schmidt, President and Founder of the U.S. Concealed Carry Association, today made the following statement regarding Saturday’s terrorist attack in Minnesota:

“The thoughts and prayers of my family and the members of the USCCA across the country are with the victims of this terrible attack. By all accounts Officer Jason Falcone is a hero and even though he was off-duty, he put himself in harms’ way to protect and defend others.

“As the investigation of the circumstances surrounding this attack unfolds in the days ahead and we discuss ways to try and prevent future attacks, it’s my hope the critical role of concealed carry rights can play in incidents like this will be part of that conversation.

“Gun free zones’ are essentially advertisements to evil-doers of soft targets where citizens will not have the ability to fight back. We don’t know if an ordinary citizen with a concealed carry permit could have stopped this attack earlier because firearms and other weapons were expressly banned by mall policy. But we do know the loss of life was prevented because an armed, law-abiding citizen ignored that policy and stepped forward to defend those who could not defend themselves.

“This should not be ignored in the aftermath of this attack as we look at ways to keep America safe in the face of rising threats.” Read more
