The Cornell Lab of Ornithology is asking bird watchers and nature-lovers who find a bird’s nest of any species to share their observations with the free NestWatch citizen-science project.
Participants report the location of a nest, the species using it, number of eggs laid, and other important milestones as the birds incubate, raise, and fledge their young. You can register for the project at NestWatch.org. Read more

“For the third generation of a ATI’s premier shotgun stock line we wanted to refine both the grip and mounting system based on extensive field use and testing of the platform,” said Amanda Mapes, National Sales Manager. “We added more Scorpion Recoil Material to a slimmed version of our ergonomic pistol grip and worked to simplify the mounting system. SAF Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb, reacting to this morning’s announcement, was blunt: “This is not a good nomination and Judge Garland should not be confirmed.”
President Obama nominated Garland, who is the chief judge for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, to fill the seat left vacant by the untimely death of Justice Antonin Scalia, author of the landmark 2008 Second Amendment ruling in District of Columbia v. Heller. Scalia was considered a giant on the court and one of its finest conservative voices.
On the other hand, “Judge Garland voted to grant an en banc hearing to Heller after the three judge panel struck down the District of Columbia’s gun ban law. The only reason to do so would be to overturn the pro Second Amendment ruling. That was hostile to gun rights.” Read more

As the spring fishing season approaches, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources reminds anglers that fisheries staff will be interviewing them about their fishing trips on several inland lakes located throughout the state.
Locations include Mullett Lake (Cheboygan County), Cass and Union lakes (Oakland County), Big Manistee River including a component on Manistee Lake (Manistee County), Deer Lake Basin (Marquette County) and Lake Gogebic (Gogebic County). Read more
