Under the proposal, the cost of a Michigan firearm deer license would increase from $15 to $30 for residents (which includes a $10 base fee for all hunting licenses), and go from $138 to $170 for nonresidents. Senior citizens would pay $12 for deer license under the plan, double the current fee of $6.
The federal government has cut the number of IRS employees in the past couple of years. Let’s do some math. With an $11.8 million budget and 97,717 employees, the taxpayer cost per employee is $120,700. Of course, there’s more to expenses than payroll, but the fact remains: A flat tax can broom a good portion of them.
