HAYMARKET, VA –– SK Customs is celebrating the rich history of the Mexican Revolution with their latest series, “La Revolución.” Kicking off the historical series is the “Pancho Villa,” a gun that tells the story of Mexico’s revolutionary general, Francisco “Pancho” Villa.

“We are proud to announce our new series, ‘La Revolución,’” said Simon Khiabani, owner and founder of SK Customs®. “‘Pancho Villa’ marks the first pistol in the limited-edition production run of only 300 full size Colt 19ll chambered in 38 Super. A beautiful Cannas floral scroll frames a dramatic illustration of Pancho Villa on horseback galloping into battle on the left side of the firearm. Along with an engraved depiction of The Monument to the Revolution in Mexico City, the side is completed with the general’s Army, known as “División del Norte,” holding a banner with Pancho Villa’s iconic phrase, “Fusílenlo, Después Averiguamos,” translated as “Shoot him, we’ll find out later.” Read more

Michigan early-season elk hunters find success

Hunt period 1 proved to be successful for 80% of early-season elk hunters. There were 98 state hunters who took to the field over the 12-day season. Hunters harvested 24 bull elk and 52 antlerless elk, including six calves. Additionally, two Pure Michigan Hunt winners harvested bulls.

Of the 100 hunters issued elk licenses for this hunt period (70 antlerless and 30 any-elk), 76% of antlerless hunters and 87% of any-elk hunters were successful in their pursuits. This season’s success rate is comparable with previous seasons.

The season began in late August and spanned 12 days throughout September and into early October. Hunters had mild weather during the whole season, with a few warm days with cooler nights.

The early season is designed to remove elk living outside of the designated elk management area, which is primarily the Pigeon River Country State Forest. The second hunt period will begin Dec. 10 for 160 hunters.

SAF Files Amicus Brief in Case Challenging DC Transit Gun Ban

BELLEVUE, WA – The Second Amendment Foundation today filed an amicus brief in support of a District of Columbia resident’s motion for a preliminary injunction against the city’s ban on carrying handguns within its public transportation system. The case is known as Angelo v. District of Columbia.

“The District of Columbia’s ban on the carrying of handguns within its public transportation system (the ‘Metro ban’) is flatly unconstitutional under the plain text of the Second Amendment and binding case law,” writes attorney and SAF Executive Director Adam Kraut. The brief was filed in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

District residents Gregory Angelo, Robert Miller, Cameron Erickson, and Tyler Yzaguirre are seeking a preliminary injunction and summary judgment to prevent the city from further enforcement of the ban. The District maintains that metro transportation, which includes buses and the subway system, falls within the definition of “sensitive places” where firearms can be prohibited, simply because they are often crowded, transport federal employees, and they are used by school students to go to and from schools. Kraut’s brief says this argument “misses the mark.” Read more
