CCRKBA: Oregon’s Initiative 42 Demonstrates Prohibition Agenda

BELLEVUE, WA – The language of newly-filed Initiative 42 in Oregon has bared the true intent of gun control by requiring that so-called “assault weapons” be sold, surrendered, registered or removed from the state, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today.

The initiative, filed by a Portland-based “interfaith religious group” needs 88,000 signatures by July 6 to be placed on the November ballot in Oregon. Under the measure, if legal gun owners don’t turn in, dispose of or register their semi-auto rifles, they would face felony charges.

“The language in this initiative absolutely puts the lie to any and all claims by the gun control crowd that ‘nobody wants to take your guns’,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “We’ve known the true intent of the anti-gun movement for decades, and we’ve been criticized as cranks and paranoids by condescending newspaper editorials and liberal pundits for being honest about it. The registration provision is deceptive, because history has demonstrated that registration will eventually allow the government to take those firearms or order their removal, like they did in New York City a few years ago. NSSF: YouTube’s New Policy Provides Cause for Concern

You may see media coverage of the adoption by YouTube of a new firearms content policy that has the potential to affect our industry and your business.  </em>

YouTube’s announcement this week of a new firearms content policy is troubling.  We suspect it will be interpreted to block much more content than the stated goal of firearms and certain accessory sales.  Especially worrisome is the potential for blocking educational content that serves an instructional and skill-building purpose.  YouTube’s policy announcement has also served to invite political activists to flood their review staff with complaints about any video to which they may proffer manufactured outrage.

Much like Facebook, YouTube now acts as a virtual public square.  The exercise of what amounts to censorship, then, can legitimately be viewed as the stifling of commercial free speech, which has constitutional protection. Such actions also impinge on the Second Amendment. Read more

“As grizzly bears continue to move out from the Rocky Mountain Front and into areas they haven’t occupied, we’ll continue to look for ways to work with local producers, communities, and other partners to avoid or reduce conflict,” said FWP director, Martha Williams. Read more

Zinke Announces More than $1.1 Billion for Sportsmen and Conservation

This year marks $20 billion in hunter and angler conservation funding

HORICON, WI – Yesterday U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke traveled to Horicon, Wisconsin, where he announced more than $1.1 billion in annual national funding for state wildlife agencies from revenues generated by the Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration and Dingell-Johnson Sport Fish Restoration (PRDJ) acts. The Secretary presented a ceremonial check to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources for $34,966,603 while visiting the Horicon Marsh State Wildlife Area. State-by-state listings of the final Fiscal Year 2018 apportionments of Wildlife Restoration Program fund can be found here and the Sport Fish Restoration Program fund here. Allocations of the funds are authorized by Congress. To date, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has distributed more than $20.2 billion in apportionments for state conservation and recreation projects.

“American sportsmen and women are some of our best conservationists and they contribute billions of dollars toward wildlife conservation and sportsmen access every year through the Pittman-Robertson and Dingell-Johnson Acts,” said Secretary Zinke. “For nearly eighty years, states have been able to fund important conservation initiatives thanks to the more than $20 billion that has generated nationwide. Every time a firearm, fishing pole, hook, bullet, motor boat or boat fuel is sold, part of that cost goes to fund conservation. The best way to increase funding for conservation and sportsmen access is to increase the number of hunters and anglers in our woods and waters. The American conservation model has been replicated all over the world because it works.” Read more
