That’s why we’re excited to launch our latest feature, HuntWind™, just in time for fall hunting seasons. HuntWind™ provides hunters with hyper accurate data and information to help them make game-time decisions on exactly where to hunt.

“We always strive to build features that help our users hunt smarter and be more successful in their pursuits. HuntWind ™ was the brainchild of the BaseMap Whitetail Advisory Board that included Nick Mundt & T-Bone Turner from The Bone Collector, Ralph & Vicki Cianciarulo of Archer’s Choice, Brad Rucks of Deer & Deer Hunting, Laden Force of North American Whitetail and more”, says Jeff Balch, CEO of BaseMap. “HuntWind™ is definitely a game changer and will be an invaluable tool with our users.”

With HuntWind™, a BaseMap users places a marker for a tree stand or ground blind and they will be able to select the ideal wind direction for that location. Once the markers are in place, the app will display the hourly and 7-day wind details, including wind direction, speed, and gust speed. This hyper-accurate data will allow hunters to play the wind and change their plans at a moment’s notice. Read more

CCRKBA: Biden Exploits L.A. Deputies’ Ambush to Push Infringement

Right to Keep and Bear Arms

12500 N.E. Tenth Place ? Bellevue, WA 98005 • www.ccrkba.org

‘BIDEN EXPLOITS AMBUSH OF L.A. DEPUTIES TO PUSH ANTI-GUN AGENDA,’ SAYS CCRKBA

BELLEVUE, WA – Democrat Joe Biden’s disgusting attempt to exploit the ambush of two Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies to push his anti-gun agenda illustrates the intellectual dishonesty of the gun prohibition mindset, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today.

The two deputies were shot at close range by an unidentified gunman who can be seen on video raising a handgun to open fire. Yet, the former vice president wasted no time tweeting about “weapons of war” while declaring, “We need to ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.” Neither an “assault rifle” or high capacity magazine visibly were used in the crime.

“Just when you thought Joe Biden’s lifelong crusade against firearms couldn’t go any lower, he grabs a shovel and starts digging,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “This illustrates the bankruptcy of the gun prohibition movement. They’ll use a horrific tragedy as a starting point to push their own agenda, which typically has no factual relation to the incident they’re exploiting. Read more

Arizona’s Annual California Condor Release Will Be Virtual This Year

Covid guidelines on crowds and social distancing preclude public from watching in-person at viewing site; release can be viewed virtually on Peregrine Fund’s YouTube channel

VERMILION CLIFFS, Ariz. – Every year thousands of people gather at Vermilion Cliffs National Monument to watch one of conservation’s biggest spectacles – the release of captive-bred California Condors to the wild.

The Peregrine Fund will release up to four California Condors atop the spectacular ledges of the cliffs in northern Arizona at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26. This year, with Covid-19 affecting our ability to gather in large groups, we will not be able to hold an in-person public release at the Vermilion Cliffs, but the celebration will go on. Since the public is unable to watch from the annual viewing site, we are excited to offer the opportunity to observe the release virtually on The Peregrine Fund’s YouTube Channel at https://www.youtube.com/user/PeregrineFund.

This day is a celebration of the dedication and tenacity that hundreds of people have put into bringing the iconic California Condor back from the brink of extinction. In the 1980s, there were only 22 individual birds left on the planet, yet today they stand at nearly 500. Read more

Michigan: Conservation Officers Urge Proper Etiquette On and Off the River

Trespassing: Many landowners in northwest Michigan have posted their property as private to prevent anglers from trespassing to get to fishing spots. Anglers are asked to respect those postings and instead use state-managed public land to reach their fishing locations.

The abundant amount of Chinook and coho salmon produced in the Betsie and Platte rivers every September – known as “fall fish runs” – draws anglers eager for this unique fishing opportunity in northwest Michigan. Unfortunately, the season also attracts illegal fishing activity and community disruption, and Michigan Department of Natural Resources conservation officers are working with local property and business owners to correct the situation.

Conservation officers are conducting enhanced patrols to reduce the illegal fishing, camping and parking, trespassing, littering and loud and abusive behavior.

“Local businesses and communities open their doors and welcome anglers every fall,” said Lt. Joe Molnar, the DNR’s district law supervisor who oversees officers in northwest Michigan. “Many people treat the area and fishing resources with care and respect, but those who live and work in these communities are tired of those who continue to snag fish, litter and exhibit poor behavior.”

Snagging is an illegal method of catching a fish using hooks, without the fish having taken the bait with its mouth. Read more on page 9 of the 2020 Fishing Guide.

Last September, conservation officers worked more than 900 hours and made 3,875 contacts in 14 days patrolling the fall fish runs in northwest Michigan. Read more
