The results from grass carp environmental DNA (eDNA) sampling done in Marrs and Washington lakes in Lenawee County was negative, according to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Fisheries Division. These samples were collected as a result of earlier observations and collections of grass carp in Marrs Lake in May and June 2012. Read more

On July 30-31, Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), Michigan Department of Natural Resources (MDNR), U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers collected 150 water samples from the Sandusky Bay and Sandusky River. Analysis of these water samples indicated 20 samples out of 150 taken from throughout Sandusky Bay and Sandusky River have tested positive for the presence of silver carp environmental DNA (eDNA). Michigan and Ohio DNRs planning follow-up actions with partner agencies
Federal and state wildlife officials, working in conjunction with academic researchers, today announced six water samples taken from Sandusky and north Maumee bays tested positive for the presence of Asian carp environmental DNA in Michigan and Ohio waters. Read more

Attorney General Bill Schuette and Michigan Department of Natural Resources Director Rodney Stokes today announced that the Attorney General’s Criminal Division has charged an Arkansas man with 12 felony counts of possessing and selling live Asian carp in violation of state law protecting against the spread of invasive species. The charges follow a joint investigation by the DNR’s Special Investigation Unit and Commercial Fish Enforcement Unit. Read more
