Sinclair Offers Remington Bolt Tools

The bolt on your Remington Model 700 was not designed to be field-stripped by the shooter, but Sinclair’s Bolt Maintenance Kit (#749-011-311) makes it easy to completely disassemble your Model 700 bolt for cleaning or replacement of components.

The Sinclair kit contains a Remington firing pin removal tool, a mainspring changing tool, an ejector compressor tool, along with a bench block that holds your bolt steady while you work on it.

Bolt disassembly begins with the Sinclair Firing Pin Tool, which retracts the cocking piece far enough to clear a detent, allowing you to unscrew the bolt shroud/firing pin assembly from the bolt body. The Mainspring Tool then compresses the mainspring until a retaining pin on the cocking piece is exposed. You knock out the retaining pin with a punch, then gradually release Mainspring Tool pressure until the mainspring is relaxed. You can now remove the shroud and mainspring.

Replacing or repairing the Remington plunger ejector is even easier. Simply push the bolt through the open end of the “C”-shaped Ejector Tool, then rotate it 90 degrees so the locking lugs hold it in place. This allows you to remove the ejector retainer pin and remove the ejector and its spring. Your Model 700 bolt is now completely disassembled.

After cleaning, lubricating and/or replacing components, you can reassemble the bolt by simply reversing the takedown procedure. The Sinclair Remington Bolt Maintenance Kit comes with a sturdy, fitted case for convenient storage.
