Duck Lake Fire Media Advisory: DNR to host public meeting for evacuated residents May 27

The Department of Natural Resources will host a public meeting at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 27, in Newberry for those residents who were evacuated from the area or those who have questions about the evacuations. The DNR will provide general fire information and updates, as well as information about structure losses.

WHO:    Rich Ahnen, DNR on-site incident commander; Keith Magnusson, DNR Newberry Forest Unit manager; Jeff Stampfly, DNR East U.P. District supervisor; Dennis Nezich, DNR lead on-site public information officer; Dean Wilson, DNR on-site public information officer; Kerry Wieber, DNR on-site public information officer; Lt. Skip Hagy, DNR Law Enforcement Division; Lt. Don Brown, Michigan State Police; and

Terry Stark, Luce County emergency management team.

WHAT: Informational meeting about evacuations and structural losses

WHEN: Sunday, May 27, at 2 p.m.

WHERE: McMillan Township Hall (at the corner of M-123 and Truman in Newberry)

Callers will be asked to provide their names, fire number/address, general location of their structures, and current contact information (cell phone, etc.) where they can be reached.
