February 2024 – Firearm & Ammunition Exports
NSSF tracks and reports monthly U.S. export units for several sporting arms, ammunition, and optics categories from the US International Trade Commission. Below are the results for February 2024 compared to February 2023.
- February Handgun exports increased 67.3 percent from 16,235 to 27,155 units. Within the handgun category, Pistol export units increased 69.0 percent from 15,292 to 25,842 units while exported Revolver units rose 39.2 percent from 943 to 1,313 units.
- February Rifle exports were down 44.5 percent from 41,120 to 22,809 units.
- February Shotgun category posted a 61.4 percent decrease in exported units from 11,467 to 4,429.
- February Muzzleloader category decreased 68.8 percent from 414 to 129 units exported.
- February Other Cartridges (excluding Shotgun cartridges) category decreased 28.9 percent from 75.5 million in 2023 to 53.7 million units exported in 2024.
- February Shotgun Cartridges category decreased by 33.8 percent dropping to 3.1 million as compared to last year’s 4.7 million.
- Telescopic Sights:
- February Telescopic Sights for Rifles (HTS code 9013.10.2000, which includes military use) rose 32.1 percent from 31,202 units to 41,226.
- Binoculars:
- February Prism Binoculars [not for use with infrared light] (HTS code 9005.10.0040) increased 94.2 percent from 17,713 units to 34,407.
- February Binoculars HTS code 9005.10.0080 [Other Binoculars, NESOI] increased 82.9 percent from 16,411 units to 30,008.
- Sound Suppressors:
- February Sound Suppressors, Silencers, Mufflers and Similar Devices of Shotguns or Rifles of Heading 9303 (HTS code 9305.20.9100) decreased 95.8 percent, decreasing from 5,412 to 227 units.
- February Parts and Accessories of Shotguns or Rifles of Heading 9303 (HTS code 9305.20.9500) were up 20.4% from 88,611 to 106,673 units.
