SCI and Its Chapters Commit $365,000 to Support Colorado’s Amendment 83

Safari Club International (SCI) and its chapters have collectively contributed $365,000 to organizations supporting Colorado’s Amendment 83, backing an effort to establish a constitutional right to hunt and fish and reinforce the role of hunting and fishing in responsible wildlife management.
On Colorado’s November 3 ballot, Amendment 83 would establish a constitutional right to hunt and fish, recognize hunting and fishing as preferred methods of wildlife management, and preserve the state’s authority to regulate these activities for sound scientific conservation, public safety, and future hunting and fishing opportunities.
SCI and its chapters have directed financial support to organizations involved in the effort, including Colorado Wildlife Deserves Better, Coloradans for Responsible Wildlife Management, and Yes on 83.
Beyond their financial contributions, SCI chapters have mobilized at the local level, distributing yard signs, hosting events, and engaging their communities in support of the amendment. Together, these efforts reflect a coordinated commitment from SCI’s national leadership, chapters and members.
“The freedom to hunt is worth defending, and our commitment to Colorado reflects that,” said W. Laird Hamberlin, CEO of Safari Club International. “SCI and our chapters have invested $365,000 because we believe hunters and anglers must have a voice in the future of wildlife management. I’m especially proud of our chapters and members who are backing that commitment with action in their own communities.”
For SCI, the amendment represents more than a question of hunting and fishing access. It recognizes the longstanding role of hunters and anglers in wildlife conservation, habitat stewardship, and the management of healthy wildlife populations.
Hunting and fishing also support Colorado’s outdoor economy and help connect future generations to the state’s conservation heritage. SCI believes protecting these opportunities, while maintaining responsible wildlife regulation, is essential to their future.
Through its financial investment, support for partner organizations, and chapter-led grassroots efforts, SCI is demonstrating its commitment to protecting hunting and fishing opportunities in Colorado and beyond.
