Attempt at more Gun Control for Michigan

State Rep. John Townsend (D -Royal Oak) is poised to introduce more gun-control legislation while Republican counterparts Republican counterparts in Lansing have already proposed laws that essentially would exclude Michiganders from similar calls for more gun control from the Obama administration.  I just wish Mr. Townsend and others of his ilk, can explain their interpretation of “…shall not be infringed.”  Details of the misguided plan are here…

Firearms Owners, Industry Not the “Bad Guys” Sanetti Tells PBS

NEWTOWN, Conn. — In an extended interview with the PBS Frontline program, Steve Sanetti, president and CEO of the National Shooting Sports Foundation, emphatically says that the nation’s firearms owners and firearms industry are not responsible for the criminal misuse of firearms and, consequently, should not be subjected to the severe restrictions being considered by Congress and many state legislatures. “[Firearms owners] are not the bad guys. The industry isn’t the bad guys,” said Sanetti in the interview. “Insofar as we can help the situation we want to be able to help. But that doesn’t mean piling meaningless restrictions and onerous conditions upon people who want to exercise their rights and just enjoy what they do peacefully.” Read more

Michigan Teachers Offered Professional Gun Training

Livingston County (MI) teachers have an opportunity to be professionally trained in the defensive use of handguns through a group wanting to prevent school mass killings.  In the piece some reluctant teachers worry about the cost of liability insurance and the possibility of accidents and the possibility of students stealing teachers’ guns would be a recipe for disaster.

Wyoming Governor Signs Suppressor Bill into Law

The American Silencer Association is pleased to announce that Wyoming’s SF0132 Hunting with Silencers bill was signed by Governor Matt Mead Monday. This makes Wyoming the 28th state to allow hunters to use sound suppressors while hunting. The law, which goes into effect July 1st, 2013 will make it legal to hunt varmints, big game and trophy animals with sound suppressors. It also legalizes the possession of suppressors “anywhere where game MAY occur” in Wyoming. Read more

Testing a Bond Arms .45/.410 Derringer

Missouri Proposal to Destroy or Surrender Firearms

Missouri Democrats in the state House have proposed a bill that would force gun owners  to either surrender or destroy firearms including semi-automatic rifles with  detachable magazines and semi-automatic pistols with  fixed magazines that can  shoot more than 10 rounds before being reloaded.

Ammunition-feeding devices that can hold more than 10 rounds also would be  banned. Owners also could send their weapons to another state instead of  surrendering or destroying them.  Man that’s a relief!   The innane idea is here…
