Zeta6 EDC Offset Speedstrip for 5-Shot J-Frame Revolvers

Gainesville, GA – Zeta Industries is please to introduce the Zeta6™ J-PAK™, an offset speedstrip that loads 3 and 2 in 5-shot J-frame revolvers chambered in 38SP/357. Traditional speedstrips load a 5-shot revolver in a 2-2-1 sequence. With J-PAK™, the familiar speedstrip design has been offset slightly to load in a 3-2 sequence, loading three rounds in the first motion. Its narrow profile makes it great for concealed pocket carry. The thin, flexible material allows the cartridges to flex and conform when in a pocket yet align the rounds perfectly when reloading a revolver. And like the K-PAK™, two J-PAKs can be nested together to carry ten rounds in a little more space than only five. This is the fourth speedloader product in the Zeta6 brand for 5-shot J-frames. www.zetasix.com

“Our goal was to design a narrow, EDC/pants-pocket speedloader that offered advantages over conventional speedstrips, and could still be carried discreetly.”, says designer Michael Lyle. “The commercial success of our first offset strip, K-PAK™, resulted in substantial customer feedback asking for a J-frame version. During the design process, we learned that by adding an extra sixth socket we could make the product ambidextrous.”, continues Michael Lyle. “Depending on which of the two middle sockets are left empty, the user can configure J-PAK for either left- or right-hand use. And the empty middle socket creates a finger gap that can be used for added stability.”

The Zeta6™ J-PAK™ works perfectly with all 5-shot J-frame size revolvers chambered in 38 Special and 357 Magnum. Read more

Guns and Ammo Buying Frenzy 2020 Style

By Glen Wunderlich

Charter Member Professional Outdoor Media Association (POMA)

If anyone has tried to purchase ammunition for their chosen deer gun recently, they’ve noticed a shortage on the shelves.  Firearms retailers have resorted to gun-purchase waiting lists for customers and have little or nothing on hand.  Although these conditions have become an annoyance in recent years, it’s gone far beyond that now.  Fear has raised its ugly presence, once again, and has materialized right before our eyes.

While the Left threatens gun confiscation by notables such as Beto O’Rourke and others suggest imposing mandatory gun buybacks, sales continue to ascend to unprecedented levels.

Consider the most recent National Instant Criminal Background Checks System (NICS) figures.  Although not an actual reflection of firearms purchases, the NICS numbers are the best means available to track the firearms market.

Cyber Monday produced some astounding numbers, with totals up 65.2% over 2019.   And, that was a record year!

Overall, November 2020’s numbers set another record with adjusted NICS figures: 1,949,141- an increase of 45.2 percent over 2019 – the previous record year.

Year-to-Date, there have been 19.1 million adjusted NICS checks.  According to the NSSF’s Retailer Surveys, nearly 7.7 million people were first-time firearms buyers in 2020.

Here is what the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) – the trade group representing firearms manufacturers – indicates according to its Director of Public Affairs, Mark Oliva

“November background checks are in line with what we’ve seen all year long. Americans continue to purchase firearms at record pace for a variety of reasons, including concerns for personal safety, onerous gun control plans by a Biden-Harris administration and for lawful purposes including recreational shooting, hunting and self-defense.

The fact that the pace of these sales hasn’t slowed since March shows Americans value their Second Amendment freedoms and will exercise the right to keep and bear arms of their choosing.

Politicians looking for a mandate on firearms should examine the record setting figures Americans are posting every month with firearm sales. Americans have told their elected representatives more than 19 million times exactly where their voters stand when it comes to their rights, more than 7.5 million making that declaration publicly for the first time in their lives.”

Like it or not, this is our reality.

If you are a gun owner and have a mind to rid your gun safe of some useless clutter, now’s the time to profit.  Based on sales prices of used guns I’ve tracked at Gunbroker.com, it appears as though just about any firearm’s value has skyrocketed– in most cases even doubled over their value a few years ago.

Of course, a firearm is of no practical use unless ammunition is available and it too is being gobbled up as soon as it is put on the shelves.  Production capacity of both firearms and ammo are at maximum levels, but you wouldn’t know it by visiting retailers.

Next week, I’ll suggest means for law-abiding Americans to combat the fear-induced shortages that are upon us.

Reloading Equipment Purchase Recovery at Shortest Interval

Cortland, NY…..Redding Reloading Equipment was founded in Upstate, NY in 1946 and since that time we have continually tracked the economics of reloading as a method of reducing participation costs in the Shooting Sports. Reloading is a great hobby and for years has been both a cost savings means of participation and also has been the method for building advantages in competitive shooting sports disciplines through the creation of better performing ammunition. The primary barrier to entry has always been the initial cost of all the equipment needed to begin the activity.

The simple economic principle of return on investment applies to the cost of equipment as a fixed cost and the variable costs of components when compared to the cost of buying new ammo. Cost recovery of the fixed component is generally expressed in a time value.

With this year’s ammunition shortages and the subsequent and dramatic increasing in pricing of ammo, when available, the cost recovery interval of the needed equipment has shortened significantly. Traditionally, one could assume the cost of reloading was approximately half of the cost of new ammo with similar components. Savvy buyers could even reduce component costs and move the benefit ratio a bit higher. The initial investment in the needed equipment could be more than a reasonable consumer could bear.

Today, this is written on December 8, 2020, with costs skyrocketing for common plinking rounds such as SS109 5.56 now at $39.89 per box of 20, nearly $2.00 per round and the cost to load it around $0.30 with quality components and a 55 to 60 grain bullet yielding a comparable plinking round, the savings is much more dramatic. At a cost savings of $1.70 per round, the recovery time of the equipment cost is shortened dramatically. This of course is also a function of how many rounds one uses per month and that variable will impact the time. But two years ago, SS109 was readily available at $5.99 for a box of 20 and could be loaded for a little more than half that amount. It is true that component costs are going up as well and items are becoming more difficult to find but reloading still represents a good economic decision which has been made better with the current state of the market and the nation.
