California Gov. Brown blasts Arizona, Nevada gun laws

In wake of the San Bernardino massacre which left 14 dead earlier this week, California Gov. Jerry Brown went on the attack Saturday slamming neighboring states’ gun laws.

Brown told the Sacramento Bee that Nevada and Arizona are a “gigantic back door through which any terrorist can walk.”

Hold on there, Moonbeam.  Were not the firearms used in the mass murder attack obtained legally in California?  Oh, yes.  And, were the criminals violating the gun-free zone laws, as well?  And, isn’t murder illegal?

Forget it.  Just shift the blame and feed us some more poison.

Call Your Senators Now. Tell Them to Vote NO

The National Shooting Sports Foundation has learned that anti-gun U.S. Senators are expected to bring up a vote at ANY MINUTE this afternoon on the previously defeated Manchin-Toomey “universal background check” amendment as well as an amendment expanding the prohibited persons list to anyone unknowingly placed on a secret, error-prone government list, the so called “terrorist watch list.”

Call your senators at 202-224-3121 as soon as you can and urge them to vote NO on both amendments.

Armed Citizens Deter Terrorist Attacks In Detroit, Police Chief Says

By Christy Strawser

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) More guns, fewer problems. That, at least, is Detroit Police Chief’s James Craig’s view of Detroit and fears about a possible terrorist attack.

While cities around the world are on heightened alert following a devastating ISIS attack in Paris, Detroit’s police chief says he believes the fear that armed citizens would return fire serves as a deterrent for a potential terrorist attack in the rust belt city.

Bowling Green State University Professor Labels NRA “Murderous Terrorist Organization” and “Threat to National Security”

COLUMBUS, OH – A public records request has revealed that Dr. James E. Evans, a professor of geology at the Bowling Green State University (BGSU), considers the National Rifle Association (NRA), which is the nation’s oldest and largest civil rights organization, to be “a murderous terrorist organization that is a threat to national security.”

The claim came in an email sent by Evans to Rep. Tim Brown (R-Bowling Green), demanding that Rep. Brown vote against House Bill 48, a bill which seeks to make several critical changes to Ohio firearms laws, including allowing colleges and universities the same right that Ohio’s primary and secondary schools already have – the right to choose whether or not to allow concealed carry on their property.

The bill was passed out of the House last week on a 68-29 vote, and awaits attention in the Senate. Read more

News Flash: Hillary Clinton Locks Up The Gun-Grabber Vote

On Thursday night, the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence honored Hillary Clinton with the first ever Cuomo Visionary Award, named after the late New York Governor Mario Cuomo. Ohio House Passes Bill to Eliminate “No Gun” Victim Zones

COLUMBUS, OH – Sub. HB 48, sponsored by Ron Maag (R-Lebanon), passed the Ohio House of Representatives today with a 63-25 vote. The bill is now headed to the Senate for further consideration.

HB 48 makes several critical changes to Ohio firearms laws.

Currently it is against the law to possess a firearm on school property. There is an exemption for Concealed Handgun License (CHL) holders “immediately in the process of picking up or dropping off a child,” provided the license-holder remains in the vehicle. But drop off a spouse (not a “child”) for work, or your kids lunch/medicine/science project, and parents are subject to felony penalties. Parents with a CHL are prohibited from leaving the vehicle as may be required to sign a child out of the office or nurses’ station.

HB 48 would fix this by simply stating that the gun, as opposed to the license-holder, must remain in the vehicle. It fixes a problem with which license-holders, schools, law enforcement and prosecutors have had issues. Such a simple and commonsense fix should enjoy unanimous support. Read more

Bill That Eliminates “No-Gun” Victim Zones Scheduled for Ohio House Floor Vote

COLUMBUS, OH – Substitute House Bill 48 sponsored by Ron Maag (R-Lebanon), is scheduled for a vote by the full House on Tuesday, November 17, 2015.

The bill, which passed out of the House State Government Committee back in June by a 9-2 vote, seeks to restore Ohioans’ right to carry in day care facilities (unless they post “no-guns”), private airplanes, school safety zones, and in non-secure areas of police stations and airports.

The substitute bill also contains “opt-in” language which would to allow authorities governing college campuses and certain government buildings the ability to allow concealed carry. Read more

Scrapped: Maryland ends bullet ID program after 15 years, $5M and zero cases solved

An ambitious gun-control plan by Maryland to catalog the “fingerprint” of every gun sold in the state — making firearms dealers fire a shot and submit the casing — is being scrapped, literally.

State authorities have finally figured out that the bullet ID program, enacted in 2000, cost $5 million, was plagued by technical problems and did not solve a single crime. Now, the 300,000 shell casings, one from every handgun sold in the state since the law took effect, will now be sold for scrap metal.
