Bergara Teams Up With Realtree and NRA for Custom Gun Giveaway

Bergara Custom Rifles has teamed up with Realtree and the NRA to give away one of their Sport Hunter custom rifles. The rifle is finished in Realtree’s Max 1 camo pattern, and both Realtree and NRA are assisting Bergara in promoting the contest through social media.

The gun was built by Bergara’s lead gun builder, retired Marine Corp Master Sergeant Dan Hanus. Prior to joining Bergara, the 22 year veteran was stationed at Quantico, Virginia, where he served as the Production Chief & Chief Instructor for the Marine Corps Precision Weapons Section. In this capacity, Mr. Hanus oversaw the production of the rifles used by U.S. Marine Snipers stationed all over the world, as well as for the competitive shooting teams. “Bergara is currently best known for its barrels, as we are an original equipment supplier to several of the top rifle brands in the world,” said Hanus. “The purpose of this promotion is really just to get the word out on our custom rifle business. When shooters visit our website to enter the contest we hope that they will also take a few minutes to learn about our great rifles.”

The prize rifle is a customized Bergara Sport Hunter in .308 featuring a precision Bergara Action by Stiller, Nitride treated Bergara barrel, Timney trigger, and a McMillan Hunter stock dipped in Realtree Max-1 camo.

NRA Ad Campaign Exposes the Real Michael Bloomberg

Michael Bloomberg is not having the success in burying the NRA that he expected when he announced his $50 million campaign against the Second Amendment and the formation of his gun control umbrella group, Everytown for Gun Safety.

As we reported last week, his investment in Milwaukee to defeat pro-gun Sheriff David Clarke failed in spite of the huge infusion of cash Bloomberg provided to promote Clarke’s anti-gun opponent. This defeat, on top of the recall of Colorado state senators last year, shows the inherent weakness of Bloomberg’s operation: it has no real grassroots support, just money and bluster.

To make things worse for the former mayor, NRA has launched a national effort aimed at exposing Michael Bloomberg’s anti-freedom agenda. The “Meet the Real Michael Bloomberg” advertising campaign kicked off this week with a television advertisement titled “Insult.”  “Insult” is the first in a series of ads that will highlight Bloomberg’s hypocrisy, arrogance and desire to control the lives of ordinary Americans.

Rock Island Armory Now Shipping .22 TCM Rifles to the US

August 20th, 2014 (Pahrump NV) – Rock Island Armory this month shipped the first batch of 100 production .22 TCM Bolt-Action Rifles to the United States. The company plans to continue serving the American market with a recurring supply of 300 additional rifles every month for the foreseeable future. This rifle is exclusively designed to harness the power of the Armscor .22 TCM 40-grain jacketed hollow point cartridge and averages 2,800 feet per second out of the barrel.

Remington Announces Layoffs in New York

According to reports from WKTV-TV, Remington Arms has told its unions there will be 105 jobs lost at the nation’s oldest gun manufacturing facility in Ilion, New York. In May, Remington announced it would be relocating 80 jobs from the Ilion facility to Huntsville, Alabama. The jobs were relocated, but the employees were not. We’re following the story and will update you as news develops.

DRT Introduces 50 Cal 170gr. TSMZ

DRT Ammunition is proud to introduce the new 50 Cal 170gr. TSMZ. This Terminal Shock Muzzle Loader bullet is .451dia and comes with Harvester Sabots in a 12 round package. The new TSMZ line was made to extend the range of the common inline muzzleloader, offering a non-lead projectile that is more consistent, and provides the terminal ballistics on which DRT builds its reputation. Our powdered core has given the bullet an unprecedented stability and will shoot less than a minute of angle at 100 and 200 yards out of a quality rifle.

We used a 115gr of Blackhorn 209 with CCI 209 shotshell primers and a Thompson Center Triumph to test this bullet for accuracy. We also used 150 Gr (3 pellets) of White Hots in a TC Encore Pro Hunter. The TSMZ is a powdered core, just like our other projectiles, and is incredibly devastating. The bullet will pass through bone and parts of the bullet core remain intact continuing to move through the animal, which makes it perfect for hunting – causing massive internal damage.
