Pro Ears Electronic Technology Protect Hearing, Enhances Ability to Hear Game

Ear protection is a basic fundamental of firearm safety, yet most hunters routinely shoot with nothing to protect their ears. Maybe they don’t fully understand the risk of permanent damage to hearing each time a gun is fired, or maybe they just don’t believe it could happen to them.

Hearing well is critical to effective hunting. Hunters simply don’t want to wear hearing protection if it diminishes how well they can hear a deer, turkey or other animal approaching. Pro Ears is the solution to protecting your ears while improving a hunter’s ability to hear game.

Pro Ears uses electronic technology to protect hearing while still allowing users to have a normal conservation in the blind or at the range, and Pro Ears even amplifies low decibel sound to give hunters a huge advantage in the field. Pro Ears uses the most advanced and superior technology available in electronic ear and hearing protection for shooting and hunting. This technology allows the competitive shooter and hunter to hear every sound, including conversation, even during high-volume noise spikes. Pro Ears electronic earmuffs achieve a perfect balance between comfort, noise attenuation and purity of sound. Read more

Colt Baby Dragoon Once Owned by James Brady Being Auctioned to Benefit SAF

This is an 1848 Colt Baby Dragoon (Rammerless) – also know as an 1848 Colt Pocket Pistol – that was previously owned by James Brady, and is now up for auction.

It’s not every day that you can get your hands on a rare piece of American history.

James “The Bear” Brady was born in Centralia, Illinois on August 29, 1940. He lived an ambitious life, graduating from the University of Illinois in his early twenties and beginning a successful career in politics. In 1981, Brady’s lifelong dream was achieved when President Ronald Reagan appointed him Assistant to the President and White House Press Secretary.

That same year on March 30th, a man by the name of John Hinckley Jr. attempted to assassinate President Reagan as the President left a speaking engagement at the Washington Hilton Hotel. Hinckley shot President Reagan, James Brady, and two law enforcement officers. Reagan was shot in the chest underneath his left arm, with the bullet stopping near his heart. He suffered from heavy internal bleeding and went into cardiac arrest at the hospital, but was quickly resuscitated, and recovered in weeks. Read more

Big Horn Armory’s Model 90: Big Thump, Handy Package

Animals that can bite back can make trekking into remote spots problematical. Whether you are hunting these animals or merely passing through their territory, carrying a powerful stopper rifle is more than reassuring; it’s almost a necessity. A semi-auto powerful enough for these kinds of critters is too heavy to pack, and a revolver in the same power category constantly threatens to send your pants on a trip to your ankles. But a fast-handling, handy and quick-shooting lever action like Big Horn Armory’s new Model 90 in .460 S&W Magnum is just about the perfect answer to this conundrum.

Sure, it’s a handy thing to send a big chunk of lead and/or copper into an ornery bruin or boar at halitosis range, but when you can reach out and touch them from a distance you can elevate your problem-solving skills to a better level. The .460 S&W Magnum is 11-percent flatter shooting than its big brother, the .500 S&W Magnum over 200 yards and has as much as 20-percent more energy at the muzzle when fired in a Big Horn Armory Model 90 carbine. Like all of its products, Big Horn Armory’s Model 90 rifle and carbine are made in the United States of America with a level of craftsmanship and reliability rarely seen today. The new Model 90 is the first repeating rifle for this powerful cartridge. It will enable hunters to use 45 Colt, 454 Casull and 460 S&W in one rifle. Big Horn Armory’s Model 90 is made using 17-4PH stainless steel or 4140 chrome moly steel and the finest woods. Available metal finishes will include Matte SS, Hunter Black and Color Casehardened.
