CCRKBA: Data Shows Obama Still Best Gun Salesman in the US

BELLEVUE, WA – Last month set a new record for the number of background checks ever conducted during the month of June in the 17-year history of the National Instant Check System, prompting the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms to declare that, for the seventh year in a row, Barack Obama is the best gun salesman in the United States.

“It’s a dubious honor for the president, I’m sure,” CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb chuckled. “After all, Barack Obama has been advocating all forms of gun control since before he was elected back in 2008, and the only thing that has really ever accomplished is to push gun sales higher.”

Gottlieb cited data released Monday by the National Shooting Sports Foundation that said the NSSF-adjusted National Instant Check System (NICS) figure of 886,825 checks was the highest on record for the month of June since the system was inaugurated. It is up considerably over June 2014, when there were 805,571 NICS checks, according to the NSSF-adjusted data. This year’s second quarter figure was also the second highest in the system’s history, at 2,793,230 checks. Read more

Those who know Scott McRee, take him as a competitive shooting force to reckon with. He’s no stranger to top-level long range precision shooting matches, as well as heavy rifle class shooting and has amassed a great deal of respect and notoriety over decades of match shooting.

Scott shot with Team Thunder Ammo 1 and held his own along with his three teammates to take the Team World Championship title. And that is to refrain from restricting the sale and possession of firearm suppressors more strictly than firearms themselves.   Suppressors are sold over the counter in some countries, and their use is considered a courtesy to neighbors.   There are suppressors on the European market created with 3D printers that are cheap and disposable. And there is no Hollywood-induced hysteria over their use.

Suppressors are often called “silencers,” but that word choice leaves the wrong impression. They do not silence the discharge of a firearm. From an engineering perspective, they are nothing more than baffle systems that contain and redirect the gasses that exit from a gun barrel. They are very similar in design to car mufflers and were, in fact, developed by the same inventor, Hiram Maxim, in the early 1900s. Maxim was inspired by his profound hearing loss from the testing of another one of his inventions – the Maxim machine gun. Read more

National Shooting Sports Foundation Awards $60,000 Scholarships to 25 Students

NEWTOWN, Conn. – Through its popular annual essay contest for employees of Voting Member companies and their family members, the National Shooting Sports Foundation® has awarded $60,000 in scholarship funds to 25 students who distinguished themselves through their writing ability. NSSF® is the trade association for the firearms and ammunition industry.

To earn one of the 25 scholarships offered, employees of NSSF Voting Member companies or their qualified family members submitted applications and essays on one of three topics-“Why ‘Smart Gun’ Technology is Not the Answer to Gun Safety,” “Explain to Your Friends Why Firearms Ownership, Hunting and/or Target Shooting Are Important to You” and “Gun Safety Doesn’t Mean Gun Control.”

As it happened, all of the top-scoring essays were on the same topic, “Explain to Your Friends Why Firearms Ownership, Hunting and/or Target Shooting Are Important to You.” Read more

Stoeger Delivers First Ranger Rifles to Colt Canada

Oshawa, Ontario – Stoeger Canada with SAKO, Finland deliver the first rifles for the New Ranger Rifle Program to Colt Canada. The SAKO .308 rifle design based on the Tikka Compact Tactical Rifle (CTR) has been selected as the new Ranger Rifle for Canada replacing the Lee Enfield.

These prototype rifles have been delivered to the Rangers and will undergo user trial evaluations from now till the end of 2015. Production of 6500 or more rifles is expected to commence in mid-2016 with a completion mid to end 2018.

The ownership of the intellectual property of the design will remain with SAKO, and Colt Canada will acquire a manufacturing license for the design on behalf of The Government of Canada and the Department of National Defence, under the Munitions Supply Program (MSP).

The Canadian Rangers are a sub-component of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Reserve. They are effectively the military’s eyes and ears in the sparsely settled northern, coastal and isolated areas of Canada that cannot conveniently or economically be covered by other parts of the CAF, providing patrols and detachments for national-security and public-safety missions in these locations. CCRKBA Applauds Washington Post Expsure of Anti-Gun Falsehoods

BELLEVUE, WA – The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is applauding Monday’s exposure by the Washington Post of questionable data about school shootings used by the gun prohibition lobby to stoke public emotion against Second Amendment rights.

The newspaper’s fact checker confirmed what was first suggested last year following an Oregon incident: Anti-gunners use an overly broad definition of “school shooting” to pad the data. This followed a claim by Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) that since Sandy Hook there has been, on average, one school shooting a week. By the newspaper’s math, that would put the total around 128 incidents. The newspaper said the source for the claim is a report by anti-gun billionaire Michael Bloomberg’s Everytown for Gun Safety.

“Anti-gunners have essentially been cooking the books,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “This isn’t the first time a newspaper has called Everytown on this claim and it should cause the press, and the public, to wonder what other misleading claims the gun ban crowd has been making.”

The Washington Post gave Murphy’s claim a whopping “Four Pinocchios,” an allusion to how the famous cartoon character’s nose grew when he told a fib. It is “tantamount to calling something a bald-faced lie,” Gottlieb said. Read more
