The Keith Davis Chapter of the Ruffed Grouse Society will hold its 8th annual Fall Tune-Up Shoot at the Fenton Lake Sportsmen’s Club, 1140 Butcher Road, Fenton, MI on Saturday, August 25, 2012 beginning with registration at 9 a.m. (Shoot starts at 9:30 a.m.).
According to Brad DePottey, registration for the 50 target sporting clays shoot is $30 for adults and $25 for youngster’s age12-16. Registration fee includes lunch and award for Adult High Gun. Walk-in’s are welcome.

Many of you are aware of a group of hunter/conservationists called the Southern Lower Deer Management Initiative (SLP DMI). The SLP DMI has put forth a proposal to the Natural Resource Commission (NRC) to adopt additional antler restrictions to the current Combination Deer License in an effort to deal with overpopulation issues that have plagued Michigan’s southern lower peninsula for over 2 decades as well as attempt to build age structure into our buck population, something supported by hunters by a 75% margin. The Sierra Club has asked that the Grand Teton National Park complete yet another environmental review of its annual elk hunt. The group cites “changing conditions” since the park last completed a study in 2007 as the reason they want hundreds or thousands of taxpayer dollars again spent on the review. Read more
