Lansing— Legislation authorizing Michigan citizens, who are already holding concealed pistol permits to carry a Taser for personal protection, is now on Governor Rick Snyder’s desk.
Snyder has 14 days to decide whether to sign or veto the three-bill package or let them become law without his endorsement.
The Michigan House Judiciary Committee will have a hearing on Thursday, May 17, to review an important and long-overdue bill that would eliminate the state handgun “permit-to-purchase” and registration requirements. This committee will hear House Bill 5225 and consider this proposed amendment language that will be used as a substitute for HB 5225 when this hearing takes place. Read more

A recent op-ed piece in The New York Times (“I Hunt, but the NRA Isn’t for Me,” by Lily Raff McCaulou) virtually damns NRA for supporting candidates based on their voting records on gun issues—in her view at the expense of hunting. She even states, “The NRA has never had much to do with hunting,” and says NRA does not represent most hunters or gun owners.
First, since Americans join NRA to ensure their gun rights are protected, maybe it is actually logical for the NRA to examine how candidates vote on gun rights issues. Defending the Second Amendment is what we are here for, so we—and the candidates we support—are part of the reason McCaulou is able to own a gun herself. Read more
Michigan Senate bills 29 and 30 would allow a CPL holder to use a stun gun, and authorizes reserve peace officers for its use during the performance of official duties and allows court officers to carry a concealed pistol or stun gun in a no-carry zone. The bills have cleared the House of Representatives and now return to the Senate for further consideration.
A female Russian hair salon owner was faced with attempted robbery, when she turned the tables on the thief. Olga Zajac, 28 and a black-belt karate expert, overpowered the man with a single kick, fed him Viagra for days, tied him up, and made him a sex slave before turning him loose. Two men convicted of brutally beating a World War II veteran in Genoa Township, Michigan in 2008 will not have their appeals heard by the Michigan Supreme Court. One of the scum is eligible for parole in 2097 and the other animal is eligible for parole in 2059. Seems they should have learned their lesson by then. More here…
