I write to you today because 13 Michigan House Democrats (see below for who) have seen it fit to attack our liberty. These lawmakers want to restrict your right to defend yourself when you are out and about (away from your home). They have introduced a bill, HB 5644, that would require that you retreat before you defend yourself or your loved ones. So if someone is pointing a gun at you, you should try to run away first. Yesterday, the Michigan House Judiciary Committee held a hearing to review an important and long-overdue bill that would eliminate the state handgun “permit-to-purchase” and registration requirements. This committee heard House Bill 5225 and considered amendment language that will be used as a substitute for HB 5225. The committee will again consider HB 5225 next week with a possible vote on Thursday, May 24. Read more

As previously reported, the Michigan House Judiciary Committee will have a hearing this Thursday, May 17, to review an important and long-overdue bill that would eliminate the state handgun “permit-to-purchase” and registration requirements. Michigan Governor, Rick Snyder, has signed bills into law that will allow Michigan residents to carry Tasers, if they have a concealed pistol license and complete training in use of the typically nonlethal electronic devices. The law has immediate effect and details can be found here…
