Ever wonder what happens to the logging roads that are created during a timber sale, after the cutting is finished and the timber harvest is over? In many cases, the Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Division is using those roads to create hunter walking trails that not only allow better access to sportsmen but also are designed to attract game species, too.
A cooperative effort between the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and the Clay Township Police Department has resulted in the citation of Wadhah Noori Jabro, of Sterling Heights, for taking sturgeon during the closed season in St. Clair County. Read more

Effective immediately, the purchase limit for antlerless permits for DMU 486 is five private land antlerless deer hunting licenses per hunter (down from 10 in this unit).
Also effective immediately, the public antlerless license purchase limit per hunter is two for each of the following DMUs: 012 (Branch), 034 (Ionia), 039 (Kalamazoo), 041 (Kent), 044 (Lapeer), 076 (Sanilac), 078 (Shiawassee), 079 (Tuscola) and 080 (Van Buren).
If you bought more than what is listed above, no problem. These new limits apply only to purchases on or after November 8th.

When Congress reconvenes on November 13, one of the first items the U.S. Senate could vote on is S. 3525, “The Sportsmen’s Act of 2012.” S. 3525 is an essential piece of legislation focused on the expansion and enhancement of hunting, recreational fishing and shooting on federal public land.
