Ravalli County, Montana residents have urged their commissioners to allow shooting wolves on sight and to listen to science rather than anecdotes as they write a countywide predator control policy.
“The policy has become too extreme,” said Dan Kerslake, a rancher from Stevensville. “I think it should be based more on science instead of politics. Implementing a ‘kill all the wolves’ policy is too extreme, but you also can’t just let wolves run wild in your backyard.”
LINCOLN, Neb. – Forty bighorn sheep trapped in Alberta, Canada, were released into the Pine Ridge near Harrison on Feb. 9, giving Nebraska a fifth subpopulation of this mammal popular among hunters and wildlife watchers. Read more
Washington –The recent decision by Scotts Miracle-Gro Co. to plead guilty to charges of distributing insecticide-tainted bird seed highlights the need for continued monitoring of the safety of the nation’s bird seed supply, says American Bird Conservancy (ABC), the nation’s leading bird conservation organization. HARRISBURG – Pennsylvania Game Commission officials today announced that a Lancaster County hunter has undergone post-exposure rabies shots after harvesting and field dressing a deer on Jan. 20, in Valley Township, Chester County, that ultimately tested positive for rabies. Read more
