Michigan’s Extended Archery Deer Season in Macomb, Oakland and Wayne Counties

Hunters still seeking to take deer this season can plan to archery hunt in southeastern Michigan through the end of the month. Archery deer hunting in the urban deer management zone of Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties is extended through Jan. 31.

The extended hunt is both a chance for hunters to pursue high-quality deer and an opportunity for local officials to manage urban deer conflicts in their communities. Hunting is one option that can be used to decrease human-deer conflicts by controlling deer population numbers in affected areas.

Licenses for this season include a deer license, a deer combo license or an antlerless deer license. All rules and regulations for the archery season apply.

Hunters should check local ordinances in the communities where they are interested in hunting to make sure hunting is allowed and to see whether only specific areas are open for the extended season. Read more

2024 Black Lake sturgeon season begins Feb. 3

The largest sturgeon caught on the day by Matt Barber is shown on the ice of Black Lake.The 2024 lake sturgeon fishing season on Black Lake in Cheboygan County, Michigan, will begin at 8 a.m. , Feb. 3. All anglers must register online to participate in the fishing season, and those age 17 or older must have a valid Michigan fishing license.

The harvest limit for the 2024 season on Black Lake is six lake sturgeon. Officials will close the season when one of two scenarios occurs:

  • The sixth fish is harvested.
  • Five fish have been harvested at the end of any fishing day.

Fishing hours are 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day of the season. The season will end either at 2 p.m. , Feb. 7, or when one of the above scenarios is met, at which point anglers will be notified via text message and on the ice by DNR personnel that they must immediately stop fishing for lake sturgeon.

Trijicon Introduces New 1-10×28 Credo and Credo HX Riflescopes

The Credo 1-10×28 gives you fully multi-coated, broadband, anti-reflective glass, a 34mm tube and 28mm objective lens for excellent light transmission, true detail and color with zero distortion. The reticle features dual red/green user-selectable LED illumination with an “off” in between each setting for fast adjustment to any environment. Designed for speed and precision, the segment circle with cross dot reticle allows the shooter to quickly bracket targets and use up to 30 MRAD of windage and elevation holds without the need to dial. When dialing is preferred, the exposed elevation adjuster provides crisp, consistent clicks.
