QDMA Adds Predator Management Course to Deer Steward Program

ATHENS, GA – In answer to demand from hunters suffering high fawn predation, QDMA is pleased to announce the addition of a Predator Management course to its highly successful Deer Steward Certification program.

The intensive three-day course will take place September 11-13 at Ames Plantation in Grand Junction, Tennessee, and will be led by professional trapper Clint Cary, owner of Tactical Trapping Services. Clint has been a speaker at the QDMA National Convention and Deer Steward courses. Through this new, comprehensive course he will teach all aspects of a predator management campaign, including: pre-planning, making successful sets, laying out a property for a campaign, trap modifications, lures, baits and other attractants, and more. Oklahoma Highway Patrol Selects Sig Sauer P320

NEWINGTON, N.H. — SIG SAUER, Inc., has been selected by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol to deliver more than 800 P320® Full-Size pistols in 9mm. An exhaustive test and evaluation found the P320 to meet or exceed the Highway Patrol’s expectations.

Over a two-week span, P320 pistols were evaluated by cadets and firearms instructors of the 63rd Academy class. After more than 78,000 rounds of assorted brands of ammunition, the P320 continued to perform “without any mechanical issues,” according to a letter from the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety. SAF Lauds Puerto Rico Victory for Gun Rights

BELLEVUE, WA – A surprising victory for gun rights in Puerto Rico has eliminated the firearms registry and licensing requirements to purchase and carry in the Commonwealth, the Second Amendment Foundation has confirmed.

As of now, according to Sandra Barreras with Ladies of the Second Amendment (LSA), the group that brought the lawsuit, “there is no regulation to purchase or carry (and) all purchases will be handled in accordance with federal firearms regulations.” LSA is affiliated with SAF through the International Association for the Protection of Civilian Arms Rights (IAPCAR). Colt Baby Dragoon Once Owned by James Brady Being Auctioned to Benefit SAF

This is an 1848 Colt Baby Dragoon (Rammerless) – also know as an 1848 Colt Pocket Pistol – that was previously owned by James Brady, and is now up for auction.

It’s not every day that you can get your hands on a rare piece of American history.

James “The Bear” Brady was born in Centralia, Illinois on August 29, 1940. He lived an ambitious life, graduating from the University of Illinois in his early twenties and beginning a successful career in politics. In 1981, Brady’s lifelong dream was achieved when President Ronald Reagan appointed him Assistant to the President and White House Press Secretary.

That same year on March 30th, a man by the name of John Hinckley Jr. attempted to assassinate President Reagan as the President left a speaking engagement at the Washington Hilton Hotel. Hinckley shot President Reagan, James Brady, and two law enforcement officers. Reagan was shot in the chest underneath his left arm, with the bullet stopping near his heart. He suffered from heavy internal bleeding and went into cardiac arrest at the hospital, but was quickly resuscitated, and recovered in weeks. Read more
