HSUS Gags on Disinformation

There’s an interesting new proposed law in New Hampshire that would require people who have filmed cruelty to livestock to give the footage to authorities within 24 hours. Is this a good idea? We think so. But the Humane Society of the United States and other vegan animal rights groups are up in arms.

Instead of doing what’s best for animals in the case of cruelty, animal acitivists build a case through any means necessary, and in effect, delay response time by authorities.  More here…

Anti-Hunting Group Cries Wolf Over Wolf Management Law

Another Out-of-State Group Tries to Hijack Michigan’s Ballot

LANSING –The president of one of the most radical animal rights organizations in the country popped up in Lansing Tuesday to announce a coalition circulating a petition to put PA 520 of 2012 – also known as the Wolf Management Law – on the 2014 ballot as a referendum.
Wayne Pacelle, President of the Humane Society of the United States (not to be confused with your local animal shelter), said the thought of wolves being trapped or hunted “really appalls” him during a press conference at the Capitol. The coalition calls itself “Keep Michigan Wolves Protected” and seeks to collect 225,000 signatures by the end of March to put the referendum on the 2014 ballot. If it collects enough signatures, Public Act 520 would be placed on the ballot in November of 2014. Pacelle was also quoted in MIRS News as saying, “Our hope is if we can win here in Michigan, we can address the . . . killing of wolves in other states as well.” Read more

Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show

National Shooting Sports Foundation Statement on the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show

We have just learned that Reed Exhibitions has decided to postpone the 2013 Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show.

In  the days following Reed Exhibitions’ announcement that modern sporting  rifles would be prohibited from the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show, the  leadership of the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) has been  in intense, frank discussions with Reed Exhibitions management in an  effort to reverse this unacceptable decision. These discussions reached  an impasse.

NSSF  is in no way affiliated with, nor does it participate in or exhibit at  this show in any way. Reed Exhibitions does, however, manage the  NSSF-owned SHOT Show (though Reed manages the SHOT Show, all SHOT Show  decisions, policies and actions are made at NSSF’s direction).

Because of Reed’s recent actions, NSSF is considering all options regarding the management of future SHOT Shows.

More Michigan Gun Grabbing Pushed

A Lansing Michgian State Representative, Andy Schor (Democrat, go figure) is pushing a measure to stop open carry of firearms.  On the other side is Michigan Coalition for Responsible Gun Owners (MCRGO), attorney Steve Dulan:  “I call this type of legislation the  creation of mass murderer empowerment zones,” Dulan said. “When you  establish, in law, a place where law-abiding citizens are not allowed to bring weapons for self defense, you are creating a magnet for these  mass killers.”  More here…

Michigan’s 2012 hunting season safest in five years

GW:  Although the title indicates a relatively safe season, the facts indicate there’s plenty of room for improvement – especially with the young!  Me must do better in that regard.

The 2012 hunting season saw only one fatality in the 15 incidents reported to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, making it the safest season in the last five years. While there were three fewer incidents reported in 2011, there were five fatalities in that year. Read more
