American Silencer Association Calls for Bill O’Reilly Retraction

Washington, DC – The American Silencer Association (ASA) asks that Bill O’Reilly immediately retract the factual inaccuracies of current firearm regulations that he used as supporting evidence during his July 24 debate with Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT). The debate, which focused on the validity of additional gun control measures in response to the tragic events in Aurora, CO, found O’Reilly calling for stricter oversight of the firearms transfer process. While the ASA does not take issue with O’Reilly’s personal opinions, the consistent use of unsubstantiated evidence is inexcusable and in need of retraction. Read more

DNR verifies trail camera photo of cougar in northern Marquette County

This trail camera photo of a cougar was taken at 2 a.m. on July 18 in northern Marquette County. The photo represents the 17th time the DNR has been able to verify the presence of cougars in the Upper Peninsula since 2008.

A recent trail camera photo of a cougar in northern Marquette County has been verified by the Department of Natural Resources’ cougar team.

The photo was taken at 2 a.m. on Wednesday, July 18 on private property. The landowner, who has asked to remain anonymous, met with DNR Wildlife Division staff this week to confirm the location where the photo was taken.

The photo is the 17th time the DNR has been able to verify the presence of cougars in the Upper Peninsula since 2008, coming only a month and a half after a previously confirmed photo from southern Marquette County.  Read more

MUCC Says Court Ruling Attacks Shooting Range Rights

LANSING, MI — Michigan citizens have the statutory right to operate a shooting range without fear of nuisance lawsuits. That right was granted under protections established in 1989 with the passage of the Sport Shooting Ranges Act. But a Michigan Court of Appeals ruling attempts to deny those rights to Michigan’s citizens.
