Massachusetts Bill Allows Animal Rights Activists to Sue Sportsmen
Massachusetts State Senator Mark Montigny (D-New Bedford) recently introduced a bill that would allow private individuals to file lawsuits for the “protection and humane treatment of animals.” This is of great concern for all sportsmen, farmers, and dog owners. Read more
New Mexico Anti-Hunting Bill Defeated
On Tuesday, February 26th the New Mexico House of Representatives shot down House Bill 316, a measure banning “coyote killing contests,” by a 38 to 30 vote. Sponsored by Representative Nathan Cote (D-Las Cruces), it would have prohibited holding or participating in organized competitions with the objective of killing coyotes for prizes or entertainment. Gun-Grabbers Inadvertently Benefit Wildlife
Just when it seems everything in the economy is down, comes this news. Michigan is eligible to get more than $17 million, up from $12.3 million in 2012 and from 2010 when Michigan received a record $16.1 million in proceeds from federal excise taxes. Montana Wolf Hunt Improves
As of Feb. 25, hunters and trappers reported killing 219 wolves during the state’s third season and first that allowed trapping, which was 53 more than last year’s total. More here…
Michigan Teachers as Armed Guards
In Barry Township, teachers are being trained by a veteran police officer, Victor Pierce, to protect students. During the 12-week course, participants get 60 hours of training about the law, application and use of force, defensive tactics, handgun use and safety, and other basics. Ruger Reports Record Sales, Earnings

SOUTHPORT, CT–Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. (NYSE-RGR), announced today that for 2012, the Company reported net sales of $491.8 million and fully diluted earnings of $3.60 per share, compared with net sales of $328.8 million and fully diluted earnings of $2.09 per share in 2011.
For the fourth quarter of 2012, net sales were $141.8 million and fully diluted earnings were $1.00 per share. For the corresponding period in 2011, net sales were $93.2 million and fully diluted earnings were 54¢ per share.
Transition in Leadership Occurring at the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance Foundation

Criminals Legally Exempt from Gun Registration
Why should honest, law-abiding citizens cave in to the proposed gun registration scheme being proposed? Consider this: ruled in Haynes vs. U.S. (1968) that convicted felons have a Constitutional right to not register a gun, because to register a gun would be self-incrimination. Only people that aren’t criminals can be punished for not registering. If the criminals aren’t required to register, but you and I are, why bother?
Oklahoma’s Sen. Tom Coburn Will Join Senators Voting for Gun Registration
Anti-gun Sen. Charles Schumer’s staff is leaking out to the press the Oklahoma Sen. Tom Coburn is “on the verge” of caving in and agreeing to a ban on private gun sales — and requiring virtually every American to get the government’s approval before exercising their constitutional right to become a gun owner. According to The Washington Post (2/23/13), the remaining sticking point is Coburn’s reluctance to require a 4473 for every private transaction. Were this to occur, ATF’s practice of going into gun stores and copying all the 4473’s — a practice which has been documented by GOA — would soon produce a national gun registry. Read more
