NRA Victory in Arizona Battle Over Use of Lead Ammunition

In a major legal victory, a federal judge has ruled in favor of the National Rifle Association and the federal Bureau of Land Management, throwing a lawsuit filed by an environmental group, the Center for Biological Diversity (CBD), out of U.S. District Court in Phoenix, Ariz. The case is Center for Biological Diversity v. U.S. Bureau of Land Management. Safari Club International had joined the case as a “friend of the court” and assisted NRA with its successful efforts. NRA Files Appeal of Ruling on Handgun Sales Age Limits

On Sept. 29, a federal judge in the Northern District of Texas decided in favor of the federal government in a case brought by the NRA challenging the federal restriction on the purchase of handguns by 18-20 year old adults. The case is far from over, as the NRA has already filed an appeal.

In the case, Jennings v. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the NRA and a group of responsible young adults argued that since 18-20 year olds are considered adults for virtually every other purpose, such as voting and military service, adults in this age group should also be able to purchase handguns from licensed dealers. NSSF Urges Calls to Congress

During Senate consideration of the FY 2012 Commerce, Justice and Science appropriations bill, Sen. Dean Heller (R-Nev.) plans to offer an amendment that would prohibit use of funds for a new and unauthorized multiple sales reporting plan proposed by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).

The Heller amendment would prevent ATF from circumventing the will of Congress by centralizing records of thousands of Americans’ firearm purchases, without any legal authority. Read more

Mexico Releases Gray Wolves in Arizona Area

Five radio-collared gray wolves have been released by Mexico near the Arizona border in an effort to re-establish the species in its historic range.

Similar work began in 1998 in the U.S.and has led to court battles between animal rights whackos and normal people trying to make a living raising livestock.

Wolf Hunt to Proceed in Montana, Injunction Denied

Tuesday,the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals turned down a request for an emergency injunction that would have shut down wolf hunting in the Rocky Mountains.

General rifle season opens in Montana Saturday and it looks like opportunitic hunters will be able to eliminate some of the predators.

The court said it will consider the the animal activist whackos’ motion for an injunction when oral arguments are presented on a pending appeal Nov. 8.

Coast Guard rescues 4 Duck Hunters in Ashtabula Harbor, Ohio

 

ASHTABULA, Ohio — A helicopter crew aboard an MH-65C Dolphin rescue helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Detroit prepares to hoist four duckhunters off the east breakwall of Ashtabula Harbor, Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011.

The  four duck hunters had become stranded on the breakwall after their 16-foot boat capsized in the choppy seas.

Animal Activist, Arsonist Gets Time

Animal activist “Lone Wolf” gets more prison time for serial arson and unwise comments to District Judge, Ted Stewart. After causing $ Millions in fire loss damages, Edmund Bond claimed his actions were justified because one of his targets “sold animal skins ripped from the dead.” He tells the judge he can take his freedom but “[he] can’t have his submission.”

Where he’s going, others may decide on that submission thing.
