Obama Justice Department Reveals Truth About State of the Union Claims

Despite long odds, on Tuesday night, Barack Obama managed to turn in a State of the Union performance that was filled with more theatrical pandering than the event is typically known for.  Once again seeking to capitalize off tragedy by opting for emotional, rather than reasoned arguments, the President reiterated his support for increased background checks and bans on common semi-automatic firearms and their magazines, which he referred to as “weapons of war and massive ammunition magazines.”
As usual, Obama’s remarks were short on evidence that his gun control proposals would work.  Of course, that evidence is sorely lacking–and who would know that better than the experts at his own Justice Department? Read more

HSUS Sues to Overturn Wolf Delisting

On Tuesday, February 12th, the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) and other animal rights organizations filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to overturn the removal of the Western Great Lakes region wolves from listing under the Endangered Species Act (ESA).  The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court in Washington D.C. Gun Free Zones Option

“It’s reasonable to wonder, are people choosing gun-free zones to go carry out these massacres because they know they won’t be stopped?”state speaker Jase Bolger asked. “I don’t think it’s a coincidence that such monsters that are carrying these out are going to gun-free zones to do their massacre.”  The  “Michigan School Protection Act” may allow teachers to carry concealed pistols in schools.  Details here…

Zumbo Joins RMEF Board

January NSSF-Adjusted NICS Checks Up 94.4%

The January 2013 NSSF-adjusted National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) figure of 1,790,154 is an increase of 94.4 percent over the NSSF-adjusted NICS figure of 920,840 in January 2012. For comparison, the unadjusted January 2013 NICS figure of 2,483,230 reflects a 81.4 percent increase from the unadjusted NICS figure of 1,368,816 in January 2012. This marks the 32nd straight month that NSSF-adjusted NICS figures have increased when compared to the same period the previous year. The number reported for January 2013 is the second highest monthly figure ever reported for NICS, surpassed only by the previous high in December 2012. Read more
