Modern Day Muskie Record Accepted in Michigan

The International Committee of the Modern Day Muskellunge World Record Program (MDMWRP) is pleased to announce the acceptance of a recent muskellunge catch as its world record. The capture of a 58-pound “muskie” by Joe Seeberger of Portage, Michigan on the 13th of October, 2012 from Lake Bellaire, Michigan has set a new modern standard for the world’s muskie anglers. Ex-SEAL, Author Chris Kyle, Friend Murdered

Police in Stephenville, Texas say Eddie Ray Routh, 25, of Lancaster, Texas has been arraigned on two counts of capital murder for Saturday’s shooting of former Navy SEAL and “American Sniper” author Chris Kyle, 38, and Kyle’s friend Chad Littlefield, 35. The shooting happened at the Rough Creek Lodge shooting range located approximately 50 miles southwest of Fort Worth near Glen Rose. Travis Cox, director of the nonprofit group FITCO Cares, a company that provides at-home fitness equipment equipment for emotionally and physically wounded veterans founded by Kyle, said the pair had taken the former Marine to the range to “give him a helping hand and he turned the gun on them, killing them both.” Routh, who oserved in the USMC from June 2006 to January 2010, is currently being held at the Erath County Jail on a combined $3 million bond. DNR seeks unique brand of outdoor enthusiasts for U.P.’s Lime Island

The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is currently recruiting outdoor recreation enthusiasts looking for a unique opportunity to challenge their skills. The DNR is seeking volunteer campground hosts for its Lime Island State Recreation Area. The 980-acre island, one of the newest recreation areas in Michigan’s state park system, is situated in the St. Mary’s River Navigation Channel some three miles offshore of the eastern end of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Anti-Gunners’ Trinity: Private Gun Sale Bans, Gun Bans, Magazine Bans

While banning guns and magazines is being actively promoted by the anti-gunners (as evidenced by introduction of Sen. Feinstein’s S. 150), the criminalization of private firearm transfers is the centerpiece of their anti-Second Amendment efforts.  This is part of a strategy to chip away at our Second Amendment rights under the guise of being “reasonable.” But if you understand exactly what the anti-gunners are really talking about, you’ll understand that the restrictions they’re proposing are anything but reasonable. Senate Holds First Hearings of 2013 on Gun Rights

On January 30, the U.S. Senate Judiciary committee held a hearing entitled, “What Should America Do About Gun Violence?” It should have been called, “How Do We Attack Second Amendment Rights?” The hearing (which can be viewed here) consisted of a single panel that included NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre, Second Amendment scholar David Kopel, attorney Gayle Trotter, Baltimore County, Md. police chief James Johnson, and Mark Kelly, the husband of former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords.
