How the United States Won World War II

By Glen Wunderlich

We keep hearing about the civilian deaths attributed to the Israel/Hamas war.  Let’s take a quick history refresher, when the United States dropped two A-bombs on Japan. Undoubtedly, the two bombs caused horrific results, with one bomb clearing five square miles of everything.

It is estimated that around 140,000 of Hiroshima’s population of 350,000 were killed in the bombing, and it is estimated that around 74,000 people died in Nagasaki.

In Hiroshima, on August 6, around 80,000 people were killed immediately when the bomb was dropped. In Nagasaki, on August 9, around 40,000 people were killed instantly. Tens of thousands of others died in the aftermath, of radiation poisoning and their injuries.

Undeniable at the same time, the A-bombs ended the senseless killing world-wide between the war-torn nations.  How many more innocents were to be killed in the years-long war had the bombs not been deployed is anyone’s guess.

When it comes to a peoples’ literal existence, the “rule book” of war is naturally disregarded in the effort to survive.

SWEET HOME, Oregon –– HEVI-Shot is proud to release two new product line additions to its HEVI-XII Waterfowl lineup. The new load options are 410 bore, 1/2-ounce, 3-inch, in shot size No. 5 or 7, with a muzzle velocity of 1,250 feet-per-second (fps). HEVI-XII is the original 12-g/cc density, tungsten alloy recipe from HEVI-Shot. These new products are now shipping to dealers and are available.

HEVI-XII | Hevi Shot

“Everyone that has shot HEVI-XII has fallen in love with it, and now they can appreciate it in 410 shotguns,” said HEVI-Shot product manager Scott Turner. “HEVI-XII outperforms steel in every category. Smaller and more dense pellets penetrate deeper with more lethal pellets in a tighter pattern compared to shooting steel loads.”

HEVI-XII pellets hit harder from a longer distance. Its pellet material features a density of 12 grams per cubic centimeter (g/cc), meaning it is 53.8 percent denser than steel–doubling the downrange energy. Shooters can drop three shot sizes for the same lethality and 28 percent more devastating pellets on target.

HEVI-Shot’s HEVI-XII 410-bore waterfowl ammunition is alloyed and loaded in Sweet Home, Oregon in 25-round boxes with MSRP of $99.99.

MSU Research Shows Emerald Ash Borer Threatening Tree Species Vital to Indigenous Cultures

New Michigan State University research details how the emerald ash borer (EAB), an invasive forest pest native to Asia, is jeopardizing the entire U.S. and Canadian native range of black ash trees. The finding is particularly troubling because the trees are of cultural importance to Indigenous and First Nations groups.

Research results were published in the journal Frontiers in Ecology and the Environment. The effort was co-led by Nathan Siegert, forest entomologist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service, and Deborah McCullough, professor in the MSU departments of Entomology and Forestry. The USDA Forest Service provided funding for the project. Read more
