Fire-N-The-Hole Broadheads Introduces C4 Crossbow Broadhead

The C4 Crossbow 100gr broadhead is a 3 bladed fixed head with a 1 inch cutting ring. This design accomplishes the 2 most critical attributes to a great broadhead. 1) Accuracy: The ring is a stabilizer in the flight of the broadhead. Machined true on the inside and sharpened on the leading edge, the broadhead cuts through the air like it cuts through the animal. Air passes through the center of the ring and the sharpened edge displaces the air evenly over the ring making it a stabilizer. 2) Efficiency: Broadheads are designed to put an animal down as fast and efficient as possible. The cutting ring removes 1 inch of material as it passes through the animal. This means a true hole is taken out of the animal. A 1 inch hole equals fast, massive blood loss.

The Hole: What sets this broadhead apart from other designs is the cutting of a 1 inch hole. The ring is sharpened and press on the blades 2/3 back on the head. This allows the parts of the broadhead in front of the ring to perform as any other 3 blade head. The chisel tip breaks, the blades cut. This allows the cutting ring to cut clean the damaged skin, flesh, bone, and vitals as the broadhead is sent through the animal. With the power and speed of the crossbows on the market today this makes a complete 1 inch hole through an animal. A 1 inch hole will not clot. The animals blood pressure drops to zero. The results. Fast efficient kills. Animals go down in seconds at amazingly short distances. Read more

Michigan S3DA Archer Has Success on Kansas Youth Hunt

Williamsburg, KY – Michigan S3DA archer, Alessia McGivern, is a member of Jackson County Outdoor Club and was drawn this Fall by the Kansas Department of Wildlife to participate in a whitetail deer archery hunt. Alessia and her dad, Travis, went to Eldorado, Kansas for a week of hunting at the property of Barrett Pirtle. Alessia and her dad did lots of scouting with Barrett in between hunting. On the third night of hunting, after passing up some smaller size does and bucks, Alessia finally closed the deal on a large size doe. The doe came in with another smaller doe, and she took the shot at 25 yards with her Bowtech compound bow.

Two days later, Alessia was hunting early morning when she saw a beautiful buck at around 80 yards. The buck was hesitant about coming in closer, so Alessia decided to take the long range shot and was able to harvest this buck with her Scorpyd crossbow. This is the biggest buck that Alessia has been able to harvest to date! Alessia had a great shot on both animals thanks to lots of practice and making sure her equipment was sighted in perfectly.

Alessia said, “This hunt meant a lot to me because I was able to hunt whitetail deer in a new state and I shot my biggest buck to date! I was able to spend the whole week with my dad, who is my biggest supporter and always challenges me to train hard and always do my best. I encourage other youth hunters to take advantage of any opportunities they get and enjoy all the experiences in hunting.”

Alessia and her family are very proud of her accomplishments. The McGivern family would like to send a special thanks to Barrett Pirtle and his family for making this hunt possible.

Sickle Darter Protected as Threatened Under Endangered Species Act

Fish Imperiled by Pollution, Dams in Tennessee, Virginia

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.— In response to a 2010 petition and 2015 agreement with the Center for Biological Diversity, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service today announced a final rule to protect the sickle darter as threatened under the Endangered Species Act. But in today’s decision, the agency failed to designate critical habitat for the fish.

“It’s tragically too late for the sickle darter in the watershed where I live, the French Broad River, but with protections in place, we can still save this rare fish in other rivers,” said Will Harlan, a senior campaigner and staff scientist at the Center. “So many folks get their drinking water from or just have fun on the Appalachian rivers where these fish live, so saving this big, beautiful darter will also help a lot of people.” Read more

SAF Files Brief Supporting Motion for Prelim. Injunction in Calif. ‘Fee Shifting’ Case

BELLEVUE, WA – The Second Amendment Foundation and its partners today filed a nine-page reply brief supporting their earlier motion for a preliminary injunction in their federal court challenge of California’s new one-way fee shifting penalty in the government’s favor that applies only to litigation challenging state gun laws.

The case is known as Miller v. Bonta. Joining SAF are plaintiffs James Miller; Ryan Peterson; John Phillips; Gunfighter Tactical, LLC; PWGG, L.P.; San Diego County Gun Owners Political Action Committee; California Gun Rights Foundation; and Firearms Policy Coalition, Inc.; John W. Dillon; Dillon Law Group, P.C.; and George M. Lee. Defendants are California Attorney General Rob Bonta and Luis Lopez, Director of the California Department of Justice Bureau of Firearms, in their official capacities. The case was filed in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California.

“Our attorneys cut right to the point in this brief,” said SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb. “The state not only has failed to defend their new law, but they all but conceded it is unconstitutional when they acknowledged the new section was ‘a response to, and was modeled upon’ a Texas statute on abortion, which the defendants argued was unconstitutional. Invasive Box Tree Month Found in Lenawee County, Michigan

Media contact: Jennifer Holton, 517-284-5724

LANSING, Mich -The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has confirmed the detection of box tree moth (BTM) (Cydalima perspectalis) at two residences in Clinton located in Lenawee County. Although not a threat to Michigan’s natural resources, extensive feeding from box tree moth can lead to significant defoliation and death of ornamental boxwood.

In May 2021, potentially infested boxwood plants were shipped to retail locations in several states including six in Michigan. The pest was then identified in three of the six Michigan facilities. It is not known whether the box tree moth populations detected in Clinton are linked or if the pest entered the state through another pathway.

“Box tree moth poses a serious threat to our boxwood industry,” said Mike Philip, Pesticide and Plant Pest Management Division Director with the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. “We are in the assessment stage of this response, and we are asking Michiganders to look closely at their boxwood plants and report any signs of this pest so we can determine the scope of this infestation and work to reduce the spread.” Read more
