Mossberg International Brings SA-20 and SA-28 Turkey Shotguns to Turkey Line-Up

North Haven, CT – Mossberg International, Inc. is importing three new turkey guns to expand the SA-Series of autoloaders: fully-camouflaged SA-20 and SA-28 Turkey Pistol Grip versions and a SA-20 Turkey with camo-covered, classic stock and forend; featuring Mossy Oak® Greenleaf™ camo. Small-gauge shotguns combined with today’s denser, more effective shotshells have extended ranges for these sub-gauges and grown in popularity. And thanks to their lightweight, soft-shooting and quick-handling qualities, these autoloaders are surprisingly effective on longbeards and a pleasure to carry in the field.

SA-Series autoloaders begin with a well-designed gas operating system that vents excess gases, reducing recoil for the shooter and lessening stress on components for smooth, reliable operation. Chambered in 20 gauge (3-inch) and 28 gauge (2.75-inch), all models feature a five-round total capacity and 22-inch vent rib barrels with the versatility of an interchangeable choke tube system (Extended Turkey choke tube included). Barrels are topped with fiber optic Ghost Ring sights and receivers feature a Picatinny rail for ease of adding optics. Other standard features include a cross-bolt safety; extended charging handle; and easy-load elevator. Read more

Now Shipping: The Dan Wesson DWX

The DWX pistol combines the best from CZ and Dan Wesson for shooters of all stripes.

Kansas City, KS – What began as an innovative idea among the brilliant minds at CZ and Dan Wesson has finally come to life. These ideas resulted in the jaw-dropping DWX pistol, a grand melding between the signature pistol designs manufactured by the two brands. Available in 9mm, the DWX is ideal for everything from USPSA competition to recreational shooting.

The DWX starts with the crisp single-action fire control group from a Dan Wesson 1911 and combines it with the ergonomics and capacity of a CZ pistol. The grip angle and contour draw their lineage directly to the venerated CZ 75, providing an excellent fit for most shooters. Correspondingly, the full-size DWX is compatible with standard CZ 75 grips. In addition, low-profile red aluminum grips help drive the shooter’s hand high in the beavertail and provide a fantastic texture to plant it firmly in hand.

More than just a competition handgun, the DWX sports a locked-breech barrel system for simplicity and features a CZ-style take-down via the slide stop. Borrowing time-proven double-stack magazines from CZ pistol families, the full-size DWX employs the 19+1 magazine from the P-09/P-10.

An ambidextrous safety delivers easy access for right- and left-handed shooters, while a flat, K-style trigger offers a textured face for a positive feel. Front strap checkering aids grip control, while a 1913 Picatinny rail makes it easy to mount a light or laser. A match-grade barrel with a bushing-less barrel system resembles that of the P-09/P-10 and offers shooters unparalleled accuracy and easy take-down. Read more

GOA, Partners to Host Arm the Teachers Event in Oklahoma

Washington, D.C. – Gun Owners of America (GOA) is excited to announce their partnership with We the Female and Oklahoma State Representative Jay Steagall, owner of Cloverleaf Precision, to put on their “Arm the Teachers” event, which will take place in Yukon, Oklahoma on January 7th and 8th.

The training, which will be offered at no cost to school staff members interested in carrying on their own school campuses, will break new ground for GOA, as staff will actively participate as an instructor in this hands-on training.

Currently, for a school staff member to carry on a school campus in Oklahoma, one must have a Self-Defense Act License, complete additional training, and be designated by the school board to carry.

Kerry Slone, President of We The Female said:

“Consistently, we see elected representatives fail to adequately protect our schools. We can no longer sit back as politicians grandstand and pass more ineffective legislation that does nothing but create more victims. Read more

Buck Knives: Unequaled in Quality

POST FALLS, ID— There are many reasons to own a knife, and if you select a quality knife, it should last a lifetime. Buck Knives offers more than 150 knives which are built by craftsmen in the company’s state-of-the-art facility in Post Falls, Idaho. The company employees who travel to trade and consumer shows frequently hear from collectors, fans and customers that their first knife was a Buck knife—and often times the iconic Buck Knives’ Model 110 Folding Hunter was that first knife. Reports are common that the customer has owned and used that knife for decades. Quality and craftsmanship in a knife ensures years of quality service.

The average Buck knife often begins with a laser-cut or die-cut blade that then passes through many processes, including the famous Bos heat treatment. Knife blades and components can also be tumbled, cerakoted, ground and pass through numerous other steps on the way to final assembly and hand sharpening. Parts can also pass through CNC machines and other heat chambers to ensure handles are a perfect fit for the blade and knife design. Numerous knives are also pulled and checked in the company’s test facility—another quality assurance step.

The knives can travel more than a mile through the 180,000 square-foot-manufacturing-facility and pass through the hands of many craftsmen. Several employees at Buck have more than four decades of knife building experience and their craftsmanship skills ensure a quality product for each and every customer.

After each knife is hand sharpened and tested, the knife undergoes a precision inspection and final cleaning before it is inspected once again and packaged for shipping. Much of these final steps are a white-glove process and all details are given close attention. These many beginning-to-end steps result in the top-quality knives the Buck Knives factory is well known for designing and manufacturing.

The best place to see and review the large number of quality Buck knives is at www.buckknives.com. The Buck Knives’ website is also the top place to learn about laser engraving for a customized knife and how you can also build a true custom knife via the company’s Custom Knife Shop. Davidson’s Exclusive Ruger LCP MAX Elite

PRESCOTT, Ariz. – Davidson’s is very pleased to announce their latest Exclusive pistol produced in conjunction with Ruger – the LCP Max Elite.

Ruger introduced the LCP Max in the middle of 2021. Since then, the .380-chambered LCP Max has seen much success due to its increased capacity while enjoying the same micro size as the LCP II. The LCP Max’s double-stack magazine feed lips were specifically optimized to reliably feed the wide variety of modern .380 Auto ammunition available.

Davidson’s LCP Max Elite stays true to the original platform incorporating the tritium-outlined front sight, serrated dovetail rear sight, reversible mag release, and includes the mag loader and soft pocket holster.

However, Davidson’s takes it just a couple of steps further by adding a red anodized aluminum trigger that greatly increases shooter accuracy and feel in this micro platform.

In addition, rather than being offered as an accessory, the additional 12-round magazine is included with the LCP Max Elite from Davidson’s. The complete package includes a 10-round flush-fit magazine, a 12-round extended magazine, and the pinky-extension floorplate for use with the 10-round mag.

Tips to decrease impacts to fish when catch-and-release ice fishing

SALT LAKE CITY — Winter weather has descended on Utah, and if you are planning to go ice fishing this winter and want to release the fish you catch, the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources is offering some tips to help decrease stress and increase survival for the fish.

Minimize the air exposure time for the fish.

Just like hot temperatures and warm water can have impacts on certain fish species, freezing weather can also be tough on fish.

Anglers have to remember that even though they are ice fishing, the fish they are catching are living in water that is not frozen — which means that the water temperature that the fish are experiencing is often warmer than the temperatures they are exposed to coming out of the water.

“If an angler is fishing on a particularly cold day, pulling a fish up through a hole and exposing them to freezing conditions can be stressful to a fish,” DWR Sportfish Coordinator Randy Oplinger said. “The water that remains on sensitive areas — such as the gills or eyes — can begin to freeze and this can cause damage to a fish. So, it is best to minimize exposure time and to release the fish as quickly as possible after catching it.” Read more

California Appeals Court Denies Stay of Injunction in Gun Privacy Case

BELLEVUE, WA — A California appeals court panel has unanimously denied a request from state Attorney General Rob Bonta for an immediate stay of an injunction in a case brought by the Second Amendment Foundation in a challenge of the state law allowing the state Department of Justice to share personal information about firearms owners with private researchers.

Bonta claimed the law, AB 173, “does not create a serious invasion of privacy.” The trial court disagreed, granting a preliminary injunction to the plaintiffs, thus placing a hold on enforcement of the information sharing law. The case is known as Barba, et.al. v. Bonta.

SAF is joined in the lawsuit by the Firearms Policy Coalition, Inc., California Gun Rights Foundation, San Diego County Gun Owners PAC, Orange County Gun Owners PAC, Inland Empire Gun Owners PAC and a private citizen, Ashleymarie Barba. They are represented by attorneys Bradley A. Benbrook and Stephen M. Duvernay with the Benbrook Law Group, PC in Sacramento.

“We’re delighted the appeals court panel unanimously rejected Bonta’s effort to set aside the preliminary injunction because the privacy of California gun owners is important, even if he thinks otherwise,” said SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb. “Bonta is determined to supply gun owner information to biased researchers who, we believe, will use it to promote additional restrictions on their Second Amendment-protected rights.”

Gottlieb dismissed arguments by Bonta that the researchers take steps to protect identifying information about gun owners.

“That’s not the point,” Gottlieb said. “The point of our challenge is that this information is being shared at all, especially with non-government entities. This isn’t just about Second Amendment rights. California’s law clearly threatens the privacy rights of gun owners.” Read more

Conservation in Session

A growing program at Texas Tech University is providing students with a transformational, hands-on approach to working with wildlife, gaining a skillset not common in a traditional classroom.

As part of the NWTF’s recent $360,000 investment into wild turkey research, a Texas Tech project in Texas’ Edwards Plateau seeks to understand the factors leading to diminishing habitat for Texas Rios and correlate them with the increasing dip in harvest rates. The findings will ultimately help the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department implement scientifically backed management to boost habitat quality and, in extension, bird production.

Blake Grisham, Ph.D., associate professor of wildlife management at Texas Tech University, is leading the charge for the research project. Still, Grisham prefers not to take all the credit, as he is proud to share it with his students, who collaborate with him in the field as part of his Wildlife Techniques class.

During the summer, at the over 400-acre Llano River Field Station, students in the class attend an 18-day, intensive, hands-on program instructed by Grisham and Warren Conway, Ph.D., chairman of the Department of Natural Resources Management.

“To the best of our knowledge, this class is the only remaining field-based immersion wildlife techniques course in Texas,” Grisham said. “Students not only benefit from the hands-on experience in the field but also from the collaboration of an array of faculty and guest wildlife professionals. This immersive and interdisciplinary approach is a crucial element of the experience for our students who take this course annually.” Read more
