Speer’s New Impact Component Bullets

LEWISTON, Idaho – – Speer’s new Impact component bullets let you take your hunts and handloads farther than you ever thought possible. Shipments of Speer Impact component bullets have been delivered to dealers.

The new Speer Impact bullet, available in three great calibers, blends tough, molecularly bonded construction with a high ballistic coefficient. Its groundbreaking Slipstream polymer tip provides a perfect aerodynamic meplat, and its hollow core initiates expansion at velocities 200 fps lower than comparable designs. The combination results in deep penetration at mid-range, as well as extreme accuracy and consistent low-velocity expansion at long distances. Read more

Federal Judge Rules in Favor of New Jersey Magazine Ban

A federal judge has ruled that the U. S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit’s ruling that New Jersey Phil Murphy’s ban on 10-round magazines “reasonably fits the state’s interest in public safety.” Further, U. S. District Judge Peter G. Sheridan ruled the decision “resolves all legal issues in this case.”

The decision is seen as a crushing setback to the Association of New Jersey Rifle and Pistol Clubs’ efforts to have the ban overturned. The Third Circuit, Sheridan wrote, “has issued a prejudicial decision that resolves all legal issues in this case and there remains no genuine disputes of material fact.” No word from the Association as to whether they will continue to appeal to the United States Supreme Court- or if there remains a clear path for such an appeal. As the group’s executive director, Scott Bach, said in January, the law “turns one million people into criminal with the stroke of a pen.”

Michigan: Revamped DNR Program Offers Money for Fisheries Habitat, Dam Removal

Project preproposals are due Aug. 30

An estimated $1.825 million is expected to be available through a new Michigan Department of Natural Resources grant opportunity that combines three previously separate programs and will provide targeted funding for a variety of activities including fish habitat conservation, dam removal and repair, resource assessment studies and access to recreation.

Joe Nohner, a resource analyst with the DNR Fisheries Division, said the department decided to unite those programs to make it easier for applicants to apply for and receive funding, for efficiency and consistency in grant management, to better incorporate stakeholder feedback and, ultimately, to improve outcomes for natural resources and human safety. Hewes Lake, Dansville, Michigan State Recreation Area

By Glen Wunderlich, July 27, 2019

Heard this lake has some good fish, but without a small boat, this is all there is to see. Lots of deer flies late summer. A head net would be a good item to pack.

I was able to drive right up to this dock. Hokey, for sure so bring some rubber boots and wade in for the launch, if desired.
