A Modern and Movable Firearm Security Solution

Grand Island, NE – SnapSafe Modular Safes combine the robust security of a conventional welded safe with the benefit of being able to place them anywhere in a home or business without hiring professional movers. Depending on the model, SnapSafe Modular gun safes accommodate 12 to 56+ long guns and include adjustable shelves for flexible storage configurations. SnapSafe Modular safes protect firearms and other valuables from fire and theft.

Its robust design offers security equal to traditional welded safes. Some models have the extra-large capacity required to store extensive gun collections yet still boast the flexibility to move it anywhere. That’s the SnapSafe modular safe advantage! Read more

RMEF Supports USFWS Gray Wolf Ruling

MISSOULA, Mont. — The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation strongly agrees with a recent decision by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) that gray wolves will remain off the federal Endangered Species List. The Biden administration filed on August 20, 2021, in favor of the final rule delisting all gray wolves in the Lower 48.

“Nothing has changed here. This is a matter of science. Scientists and biologists under the Biden administration agree with those under the Trump administration as well as the Obama administration before them, that wolves continue to meet delisting criteria and are successfully recovered,” said Kyle Weaver, RMEF president and CEO. “As a recovered species, wolves will and should be appropriately managed by state agencies in line with the North American Wildlife Conservation Model through regulated hunting and trapping.”

The USFWS reviewed the 2020 delisting rule and concluded it consistent with the ESA and based on the best scientific data available at that time. Read more

Axe Crossbows AX440

The next evolution of Performance Optimized Crossbows by Axe

Superior, WI –Breaking the perception of conventional crossbow performance Axe® Crossbows continues to define Performance Optimized with the introduction of the AX440.

Leveraging the development process of the AX405 where thousands of hours in research and development resulted in configuration that widely departed from average in look, feel and efficiency of traditional crossbows the AX440 is special. With these industry-changing principals as the fulcrum of performance the AX440 continues to advance.

At a maneuverable, stable and easily shouldered 30.5-inches long and less than 12-inches axle-to-axle (cocked) the weight of the 440 is centered over the shooter’s hand by way of a balanced shoot-through stock and riser design and reverse limb system. This configuration empowers the most efficient part of the split limb system from just 15 inches of power stroke to launch bolts at 440 feet-per-second. The proprietary Axe cam system is linked by cables that run parallel to each other, rather than from the top of one cam to the bottom of the other. This unique configuration eliminates cam-lean, limb torque and is further enhanced by an exclusive cable brace that engages the riser to aid in the limitation of flex away from the center of the crossbow. When combined, these features center the string to move along the same plane throughout the entire power stroke. Read more

ATF Comment Period Closing on Stabilizing Brace Rule, SAF Offers Strategy

BELLEVUE, WA – As the Sept. 8 deadline looms for public comment on the proposed rule change regarding handgun stabilizing arm braces, the Second Amendment Foundation has launched an ambitious effort to encourage and guide gun owners to submit comments to the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Read SAF’s comments here.

“Time is running out and we want to provide millions of targeted gun owners the means to weigh in on this alarming proposal,” said SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb. “ATF wants to reclassify millions of stabilizing brace-equipped pistols by making them subject to the National Firearms Act. If that happens, current owners of such pistols would need to register their guns and pay a $200 tax on each one, or turn it in to the ATF, or take one of several other undesirable options.” Read more

Summertime Salmon in the Pacific Northwest

Seaguar - Always the best

America’s Pacific Northwest offers stunning natural beauty with lush forests, immense mountains, and many beautiful lakes, streams, rivers, and the Pacific Ocean. Opportunities abound for the outdoorsman as both fishing and hunting are exceptional for many different species, but in this region, salmon, trout and steelhead are king and generate the most attention from resident anglers and visitors looking to experience what Washington and Oregon have to offer.

For the salmon and steelhead angler, fishing begins each summer in the saltwater as the fish transition and begin their push to the rivers for their annual migration to spawning grounds. A progression of different fish runs occurs each year and the timing of each depends on species, open fishing seasons, and water temperature. But, they are all on their way to the rivers to spawn as it is their lifelong duty to fulfill.

Michigan: DNR, DTE Energy Finalize First Carbon-Credits Project on State Forest Land

Michigan’s 3.9 million acres of state forest land provide space for outdoor recreation, cleaner water, habitat for wildlife and many other benefits. Thanks to a recent agreement between the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and DTE Energy, Michigan’s largest energy company, part of that forest land now will yield carbon credits that will help DTE reduce its carbon footprint and add an estimated $10 million in revenue to natural resource management.

The Bluesource/Michigan DNR Big Wild Forest Carbon Project is the first of its kind in the nation to leverage the carbon storage capacity of trees in state forests. The pilot project offers a portfolio of carbon offset credits generated from sustainable forest management activities on more than 100,000 acres of the celebrated Pigeon River Country State Forest – known as “The Big Wild” – in the northern Lower Peninsula.

“Our natural resources are a core aspect of our identity as Michiganders,” said Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. “To meet our long-term commitment to decarbonization we need to utilize innovative partnerships to increase revenues for land and climate programs. Under today’s program, we are pursuing a climate-smart forestry strategy and effectively utilizing our natural and working lands to decrease pollution and protect public lands.” Read more

Safari Club International Supports Sustainable Predator Management in North America

Tucson, AZ – Safari Club International (SCI) and Safari Club International Foundation (SCIF) are proud to announce their official support of sustainable predator management in North America, management which plays an essential role in the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation.

SCI and SCIF adopted this position following extensive support for research on the dynamics between large carnivores and their prey, and SCI’s involvement in numerous lawsuits and legislation on predator issues. These issues revolved around state and federal species recovery efforts, delisting decisions for predators, states’ authority to manage wildlife, and the American freedom to hunt.

SCI and SCIF have adopted a position on this issue given the significant public interest and attention predators and their management garners. Unfortunately, much of that attention is the source of widespread misinformation about a subject of real importance to hunters and conservationists. As government bodies worldwide take an increasingly active approach to restricting hunting, it is more important than ever that SCI and SCIF convey the truth about hunting both prey and predator species.
