Whitetails Unlimited Awards Grant to Pass It On – Outdoor Mentors

Wichita, KS – Pass It On – Outdoor Mentors was recently awarded a grant from Whitetails Unlimited. These funds will be used to expand the rapidly growing Shooting Sports Outreach Program to engage participants in high school and college shooting sports in hunting activities.

Pass It On – Outdoor Mentors has been engaged in recruiting mentors for at-risk youth since its beginnings in 2002. In the second year of our new Shooting Sports Outreach Program, Pass It On – Outdoor Mentors more than doubled the number of hunts and participants from the first year of the program, fielding over 200 hunts with over 550 participants.

Brittany French, Director of Field Operations commented, “This has been a really exciting year. We have been able to show that our Shooting Sports Outreach Program can be scaled and yields the kind of results needed to create more hunters. USA Shotgunners Turn In Double Gold Performances in Trap Competition

The National Anthem was played twice from the Asaka Shooting Range on Monday as American’s Vincent Hancock and Amber English captured gold in the Women’s and Men’s Skeet competition.

By far one of the most profitable days in USA Shooting Olympic history, both Hancock and English took different approaches in the two days of competition to win Hancock’s third gold medal, having won in 2008 Beijing and 2012 London and English’s first.

“I’ve just been so excited to get here, knowing that I’m capable of doing what I just did,” The 32-year-old Hancock said after winning in go away fashion in the finals. “I felt so good throughout this entire competition, so happy that I was able to come out on top again and whether it ended up being a gold medal or just being here, I’m just happy right now.”

Hancock was perfect, hitting all 75 targets in day one of qualifying and started the second day of competition just as hot hitting all 25 targets in the fourth session.  Sitting all 100 for 100, Hancock was on the verge of tying the world record of 125 set by Italian Valerio Luchini in Beijing in 2019. NSSF Shares ATF Internal Memorandum RE: Inspection and Administrative Action Policies

NSSF has learned of a recent ATF internal memorandum that we wanted to share with our members:

“On June 23, 2021, President Biden and Attorney General Garland announced the Administration’s Comprehensive Strategy to Prevent and Respond to Gun Crime and Ensure Public Safety. ATF’s role in the Strategy is essential, and includes refocusing our FFL inspection and administrative action policies. As we have previously discussed, to ensure ATF effectively executes our role in the Strategy, effective immediately, all Field Divisions shall implement the following:

1) Field divisions shall in all instances utilize Crime Gun Intelligence Analytics (CGIA) and other data driven tools in determining prioritization of inspection resources. The factors that shall be considered include, but are not limited to, the following:
a. The extent to which firearms sold by the dealer are later used in criminal activity:
b. The time between the sale of a firearm and its use in a crime;
c. The number of recoveries associated with shootings, domestic violence, and other violent offenses; and
d. Additional information developed by local law enforcement partners.

2) Absent extraordinary circumstances, an inspection that results in a finding that an FFL has willfully committed any of the following violations shall result in a revocation recommendation:
a. The transfer of a firearm to a prohibited person;
b. Failing to conduct a required background check;
c. Falsification of records, such as a firearms transaction form;
d. Failing to respond to an ATF tracing request;
e. Refusing to permit ATF to conduct an inspection in violation of the law. Read more

CCRKBA: “Freudian Slip” Reveals Biden’s Desire to Ban Handguns

BELLEVUE, WA — The real Joe Biden has finally stood up, revealing during a CNN Townhall that he is “continuing to push to eliminate the sale” of guns that can fire multiple rounds, “whether it’s a 9mm pistol or whether it’s a rifle” and the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms says enough is enough.

“It’s taken Joe Biden six short months to foul up the economy, reverse this country’s energy independence causing fuel prices to soar, declare war on free speech and now he has acknowledged in a Freudian slip he really does want to ban handguns,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “The real Joe Biden is finally out of the bag, despite the media’s continued efforts to soft-peddle his extremism.”

Biden was responding to a question from the audience in which he stated, “The idea you need a weapon that can have the ability to fire 20, 30, 40, 50, 120 shots from that weapon, whether it’s a, whether it’s a 9mm pistol or whether it’s a rifle, is ridiculous. I’m continuing to push to eliminate the sale of those things, but I’m not likely to get that done in the near term.”

“The nation has been in trouble since Biden took the oath of office,” Gottlieb stated. “The Constitution is in jeopardy. Joe Biden should be impeached for advocating the shredding of our Bill of Rights.”

Handguns are specifically protected by the Second Amendment, thanks to the Supreme Court’s 2008 Heller ruling, Gottlieb noted. He said Biden’s remark about banning 9mm pistols was “certainly unintentional, but does reveal his ultimate goal.”

“People often reveal their true feelings when they blurt things out in the heat of a moment,” he observed.

“Joe Biden’s spinmeisters in the White House and the establishment media will not be able to walk this back,” Gottlieb said. “That horse has left the barn and no amount of clarification or obfuscation is going to clean up his mess. Biden’s only mistake was that he accidentally told the truth about his intentions, and CNN broadcast it live. By his own words, he has confirmed everything we have warned about for months.

Ellison Second in Men’s Archery Qualifying

Even the best in the world is fooled occasionally.

That includes world number one archer Brady Ellison, who finished second in qualifying in Tokyo on Friday with 682 points, one behind leader Je Deok Kim of Korea.

Twenty points off his world record of 702 which he set at the 2019 Pan American Games, Ellison was happy with his day and his position going into the finals next Saturday in the final day of archery competition of the Olympics.

Shaner Takes Gold in Men’s Air Rifle

William Shaner broke through where other American’s had failed, capturing the first ever medal in Men’s Air Rifle in Olympics competition, happily it was gold.

It is the first Olympics for the 20-year-old student at the University of Kentucky who looked more like a grizzled veteran as he slowly and methodically built a lead over the seven other competitors, including his teammate, Lucas Kozeniesky, who finished sixth.

Michigan: additional spots available in August bear hunting clinics

We’ve just expanded our upcoming Outdoor Skills Academy bear hunting clinics to allow additional participants. There are two sessions available – from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, and Sunday, Aug. 8 – at the Carl T. Johnson Hunting and Fishing Center, located at Mitchell State Park in Cadillac.

Learn the ins and outs of bear hunting with experienced hunters and knowledgeable Michigan Department of Natural Resources educators. The class will cover habitat, gear, stand placement, baiting, rules and regulations, carcass care, and hide care.

The clinic also will feature a talk and book signing with guest speaker Denny Geurink, former syndicated outdoor columnist, Field & Stream magazine editor, host of the “Outdoor Adventures” TV show and owner/operator of the No. 1 brown bear outfitting company in the world for over 20 years. Geurink also authored two books, including “In the Land of the Bear,” a look at his adventures hunting brown bears in Siberia and traveling in Russia.
