Winchester Engages Members of Congress

EAST ALTON, IL — Winchester Ammunition recently hosted legislators and outdoor industry representatives at a special event in Washington, D.C., to discuss Winchester’s commitment to providing the U.S. Military with the highest quality ammunition as well as the positive impact of shooting sports, hunting, and responsible firearm ownership.

Mid-Range Match Filling, More Long Range and Surplus Ammo Available at CMP’s 2024 Eastern Games

BUTNER, N.C. – Competitors, start planning! Only a few open spots remain for the Civilian Marksmanship Program’s (CMP) Mid-Range 3×600 event at the 2024 Eastern CMP Games, CMP Pistol and CMP Cup Matches! Additionally, those who attend the Eastern Games will also have two days of Long Range competition and the chance to purchase surplus .30-06, .30 Carbine and .22LR ammo – offered onsite.

Eastern Games is set to be held April 26 through May 5 at the Camp Butner Training Facility in North Carolina and features a lineup of rifle and pistol competitions for enthusiasts to enjoy. The recreation-oriented event, part of CMP’s Travel Games series, also includes educational opportunities open to adults and juniors of every skill level.

The Mid-Range 3×600 made its debut at Eastern Games in 2023 and has returned with great popularity. Most of the open spots available within the event have been reserved, and once they are filled, individuals who sign up for the match will be placed onto a wait list for access to the match – so, if interested, sign up now!

Likewise, the 1,000-yard Long Range Match added to the Eastern Games schedule for the first time in 2024 will feature two days of competition – each fired completely on CMP’s line of outdoor electronic targets!

Winchester to Begin Construction on New Facility

Winchester has been awarded a contract for the construction of the Next Generation Squad Weapon – Ammunition (NGSW-A) manufacturing facility at Lake City Army Ammunition Plant (LCAAP). The project will be the first new manufacturing facility built at LCAAP in decades.

The new manufacturing facility will provide safe, reliable, and advanced NGSW-A to the Joint Warfighter. Winchester will manage all aspects of the construction process, which is projected to start in the second quarter of 2024.

“A dedicated team of Winchester experts have been working on this project in collaboration with the U.S. Government and other industry stakeholders to design a state-of-the-art, small caliber ammunition manufacturing facility,” said Brett Flaugher, president of Winchester Ammunition. “This new facility will ultimately employ hundreds and utilize innovative and transformational small caliber ammunition manufacturing and safety processes.” Read more

Big Green Supports Children’s Hospitals and Disease Research Nation Wide

NSSF Applauds Missouri Resolution Supporting Commercial Utilization of Lake City Army Ammunition Plant

NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, applauds Missouri state Rep. Aaron McMullen’s introduction of a concurrent resolution supporting the continued commercial utilization of Lake City Army Ammunition Plant. The resolution would mark the Missouri General Assembly’s support for the commercial utilization and urges the U.S. government to reject calls to end to program that allows the Lake City ammunition facility to remain fully staffed and able to operate at a sustained peak capacity to meet the ammunition needs of the U.S. warfighter.

“Lake City Army Ammunition Plant is undeniably a critical asset to our nation’s military readiness. The capability to supply our nation’s warfighters with the essential ammunition is made possible because commercial utilization invests in the skilled personnel and equipment, maintenance and training,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President & General Counsel. “Calls by certain politicians to end this program are incredibly short-sighted and dangerous. NSSF is grateful to Representative Aaron McMullen for his leadership to protect the critical role Lake City Army Ammunition Plant fulfills in our national defense.”

The U.S. Army began permitting commercial utilization over 20 years ago after officials realized during the ramp up to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan that the facility did not have the trained workforce and production capacity to meet the military’s surge in demand for ammunition to support the U.S. warfighter. APEX Shotshells Shine in Outdoor Life’s ‘Best Turkey Loads of 2024’ Tests

APEX Ammunition’s 12-gauge Turkey TSS and Turkey Ninja TSS.410 bore received high praise in Outdoor Life’s recently released “Best Turkey Loads of 2024” tests.

In the 12-gauge category, the test team patterned nine different 12-gauge shotshells at 40 yards through three different shotguns. The APEX GT-3 TSS 3-inch, 2 ¼ ounce, No. 9 load delivered the “best overall pattern” of all the ammo tested, delivering up to 270 pellets in a 10-inch circle.
