U.S. District Court Dismisses Lawsuit to Ban Traditional Ammunition

NEWTOWN, Conn. — The U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia today dismissed a lawsuit brought by the radical anti-hunting Center for Biological Diversity and six other groups demanding the Environmental Protection Agency ban traditional ammunition containing lead components. Read more
Obama Administration to Sign U.N. Arms Trade Treaty “In the Very Near Future”
As we reported last month, on April 2, the United Nations General Assembly voted 153-4 to pass the Arms Trade Treaty, with the United States voting in favor and several countries abstaining. The vote in the General Assembly pushed the treaty process forward after negotiations twice failed to deliver on the goal of developing the treaty by consensus. The Obama Administration is expected to sign the treaty soon after it is opened for signature on June 3. Read more
California Law Takes Effect On Microstamping Guns
All the bad semiautomatic handguns are to be equipped with technology that stamps a code with the weapon’s make, model and serial number on bullet casings. Read how this will stop the bad guys, or maybe this story doesn’t address that. Anyway, glad I don’t live in California. Here’s the good news.
Beretta Issues Statement on New Maryland Gun Control Law

The firearm companies owned by Beretta Holding in Maryland-Beretta U.S.A. Corp., Benelli U.S.A. Corporation and Stoeger Industries, Inc.-have all been deeply concerned about Governor Martin O’Malley’s effort this year to impose broad new restrictions on the rights of Maryland citizens to buy firearms, as well as on the types of firearms and firearm magazines they can acquire. The Companies have submitted comments before the Maryland legislature and to the press condemning these efforts and stating that the Governor’s anti-gun activity is causing them to evaluate whether they want to remain in this State. Colorado Sheriffs to File Suit This Morning Against Colorado Anti-Gun Laws
Friday morning, May 17, at 10 a.m., Colorado Sheriffs and other plaintiffs will hold a press conference detailing the filing earlier that day of their federal civil rights lawsuit against House Bill 1224 (magazine ban) and 1229 (sales and temporary transfers of firearms). Read more
CCRKBA Says Coburn Amendment Made Sense, Blasts Senate
BELLEVUE, WA – A proposal by Sen. Tom Coburn to expand gun rights made sense, and Senate anti-gunners who opposed the measure should be held accountable by voters, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said Thursday.
Sen. Coburn’s proposal would have allowed armed private citizens to legally carry firearms on Army Corps of Engineers lands in states where carrying firearms for personal safety is already legal. The vote was 56-43, four votes shy of a required 60-vote threshold. Read more

NSSF Dumps Reed, SHOT Management Still Undecided
The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the trade association for the firearms industry, today announced that it has reached an agreement with Reed Exhibitions to terminate the agreement the parties had for the management of the SHOT Show®. Accordingly, effective immediately, Reed Exhibitions will no longer be manager and producer of the SHOT Show. Read more
