Republicans Support California’s DFG Chairman

Sacramento – Republican Senators have sent a letter to Senate Leader, Darrell Steinberg, expressing their concern over the unjustified campaign Animal Rights activists have waged against Department of Fish and Game Commission President Dan Richards. Richards was photographed with a mountain lion he legally took in Idaho. That photograph was recently published in a hunting magazine.   “Mr. Richards has not broken one law. In the state of Idaho it is perfectly legal to take down a mountain lion. After all, there are lots of states that don’t follow California’s lead on every issue,” said Harman.

Anti-Hunters after Neck of California Commissioner

In one of their biggest attacks on hunting in recent years, the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) and other anti-hunting organizations are seeking to remove a prominent hunter from the California Fish and Game Commission.   Commission President Daniel Richards is under attack from the world’s largest anti-hunting group after legally hunting a mountain lion in Idaho.

“This is a clear attempt by anti-hunting organizations to use the fact that Mr. Richards is a hunter to have him fired,” said Walter “Bud” Pidgeon, Jr., U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance president and CEO. Read more

Friday’s snowfall is sure to have the returning migratory birds second-guessing their programmer’s sanity for compelling them to return to their spring nesting grounds.  If I could understand the calls of the sandhill cranes, I’m sure they’d be translated to HELP!  For predators, however, it’ll be just another day of winter; for me, it means one more chance at a coyote after dark before nighttime hunting concludes March 1st. Outdoors Groups Rally Around California Fish and Game Commissioner

Dan Richards, president of the California Fish and Game Commission and an avid angler, hunter and friend to sportsmen and women, is being unfairly attacked by extreme environmental and animal rights organizations for taking part in a legal hunt in Idaho. While hunting cougars may not be licensed in California, it is both legal and well-managed in Idaho.

But what is the real issue here? The organizations leading the charge against Richards have a much broader agenda.
