CCRKBA: Women Buying More Guns ’Not Surprising’

BELLEVUE, WA – A report in the Wall Street Journal showing that nearly half of all new gun buyers since January 2019 are women is not surprising, considering efforts to defund police agencies, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today.

The WSJ report on the 2021 National Firearms Survey notes approximately 3.5 million women and 4 million men bought guns for the first time between 2019 and April of this year. Overall, the draft report suggests more than 81.4 million Americans over the age of 18 own firearms, translating to 31.9 percent of the adult population.

“We’ve known that women are the fastest-growing segment of the gun-buying public,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “We’re delighted to see so many women joining the firearms community, learning new skills, making new friends and taking more responsibility for their safety and the safety of their families.

“In the process,” he continued, “these new gun owners are learning more about their rights and responsibilities. We have always encouraged new gun owners to seek good safety instruction through local gun ranges or gun clubs so they can become both competent and confident.

“As a result,” he added, “we’re seeing more women joining our organization. They’re willing to fight to protect their newly-exercised gun rights, and we’re proud to have them on board.” Read more

NEW CCRKBA TV AD TAKES BIDEN TO TASK AFTER ADMITTING HANDGUN BAN PLAN

BELLEVUE, WA – The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is taking Joe Biden to task with a new 60-second TV message on several cable networks, and they’ve got the best help of all, the president’s own words of admission that he wants to ban 9mm handguns.

The new message includes a film clip of Biden saying he wants to ban 9mm pistols.

“Neither Joe Biden nor his White House handlers can sugar coat the president’s acknowledgement during a CNN Townhall program that he intends to ban some of the most popular pistols in the country,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “This was no Biden gaffe, for which he is famous. It was an admission, whether unintentional or completely candid, that his hope is to ban 9mm handguns owned and used by tens of millions of Americans, including thousands of police officers.”

Biden was responding to a question about gun control when he told his audience, “Whether it is a 9mm pistol, or a rifle, it is ridiculous. I am continuing to push to eliminate the sale of those things.”

“Biden cannot walk that one back no matter how hard he tries,” Gottlieb said, “and we’re going to keep reminding America about what he said. This is not going to be swept under the rug as just another one of Joe Biden’s famous slips of the tongue.”

CCRKBA’s 60-second message will be broadcast on the following networks: AMC, FX, the Comedy Network, CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, Fox Business, One America News Network, Destination America, Bloomberg, BBC America, the Investigation Discovery Channel, American Heroes Channel, SYFY (Science Fiction), TLC (The Learning Channel), TruTV, DirecTV, The Weather Channel, HLN, Dish TV, CNBC, the Outdoor Channel and Sportsman Channel.

Viewers are asked to text “SAVE 2A” to 474747, and join the fight to save a right.

“When Joe Biden ran for the presidency,” Gottlieb recalled, “his gun control plan was already extreme, but now he’s exposed himself as a handgun prohibitionist. We’re going to energize every American gun owner possible to stop Biden’s radical agenda.” Read more

Louisiana CCW Bill Now in Effect

Louisiana HB 124, providing for the carry of any “instrumentality customarily used or intended for use as a dangerous weapon” as long as the carrier has a concealed handgun permit, took effect yesterday, August 1st. This includes knives, except, unfortunately, switchblades.

In 2018 Knife Rights was able repeal Louisiana’s complete ban on switchblades, but in order to get it passed we had to compromise by including the restriction that the knife not be “intentionally concealed on one’s person.” Unfortunately, HB 124 does NOT remove that specific restriction. Intentional concealed carry of a switchblade (automatic knife) remains illegal in Louisiana, even for concealed handgun permitees.

While requiring a CCW to carry a knife concealed is not optimal, we supported this effort as an incremental improvement in Louisiana law. Our ultimate commonsense goal is always to remove any restrictions to carry of any knife by law-abiding persons, period.

Knife Rights is America’s grassroots knife owners’ organization; leading the fight to Rewrite Knife Law in America™ and forging a Sharper Future for all Americans™. Knife Rights efforts have resulted in 34 bills enacted repealing knife bans in 23 states and over 150 cities and towns since 2010. Read more

SilencerCo’s American Gun Campaign Reveals Diversity of American Gun Owners

West Valley City, UT — SilencerCo launches “American Gun,” a series of videos featuring vastly different kinds of gun owners around America that will illustrate the commonality of firearms among people from all walks of life. The first video, “American Gun: The Realtor,” was released, July 14th, 2021. A series of videos will follow on a monthly basis.

In the premier video, JoAnna, a single mother and real estate professional from North Carolina, tells SilencerCo why she carries concealed. As the youngest of 28 kids, she is the first entrepreneur and first girl in her family to own a gun. When a wave of rape incidents started occurring with real estate agents in her area, JoAnna decided it was time to learn how to protect herself.

“Feeling the power that you have in your hand and what you can do with it is going to make you more of who you already are,” said JoAnna. “It’s not a weapon against someone, it’s protection for myself.”

In a time when conversations surrounding firearms are very contentious, SilencerCo has taken it upon themselves to illustrate the true story of the American gun owner. “American Gun” is an intimate look at the foundation of American Freedom, focusing on the right to bear arms and the vast diversity of people that exists among those who support the second amendment across this country. Armed American News Media Platform

Gives Audience Freedom to Choose

ATLANTA, GA -– CCW Broadcast Media LLC proudly announces the launch of a new and unique media platform, Armed American News™ (AAN). AAN separates news from supposition and allows the audience to decide if they want opinion-based journalism in addition to the factual headline stories. The pro-Second Amendment news outlet is free to everyone and boasts a heavy emphasis on issues relevant to patriots and the right to keep and bear arms. News, opinions, and reviews are separated, enhancing the integrity of the stories.

Mark Walters, co-founder of Armed American News, said, “AAN is a rebellious new media outlet built upon the ideals of truth and choice. I have told my radio audience for years not to be ‘headline surfers’ as the mainstream media outlets use their headlines to mislead. That changes today. Americans are hungry for headlines they can trust without the rhetoric or assumptions we’ve become accustomed to. We don’t want to deal with media personalities who continuously attempt to sway our opinions under the guise of honesty. People are tired of reading headlines filled with speculation and conclusions that have no factual basis,” he said. “The mainstream media have shown their hand, and we don’t trust them.”

Armed American News disrupts the typical news cycle by offering a contemporary outlet distinctly different from the familiar mainstream sources. “Our site is staffed by professional pro-gun journalists who keep their opinions where they belong – on the opinion page,” said Walters. “This way, you don’t have to decipher truth from sentiment. It is deliberately separate.” Read more

SAF Files Legal Challenge to Minnesota Ban on CCW by Young Adults

The Second Amendment Foundation today filed a federal lawsuit in Minnesota, challenging that state’s ban on concealed carry by young adults between the ages of 18 and 21, alleging the ban violates the Second and 14th Amendment rights of those citizens.

The lawsuit was filed in U.S District Court for the District of Minnesota. The case is known as Worth v. Harrington.

Joining SAF are the Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus, Firearms Policy Coalition and three private citizens in the affected age group. Defendants are John Harrington, commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, plus three county sheriffs, Mille Lac County Sheriff Don Lorge, Douglas County Sheriff Troy Wolbersen and Washington County Sheriff Dan Starry, in their individual and official capacities.

“We recognize the rights of law-abiding young adults to vote, join the military, sign contracts, start businesses, get married and do other things,” said SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb, “but when it comes to exercising one of the most basic fundamental rights protected by the Constitution, suddenly we treat them like children. You shouldn’t be able to have it both ways.
