Lawmakers Ignore Constituents but not the Boot

The following was written by Lawrence Keane of the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), relative to Colorado with State Senate Majority leader John Morse’s facing a recall election.

Like members of Congress, state legislators are elected to represent their constituents and vote on the laws that affect them. When legislators fail to represent the will and beliefs of their constituents and become beholden to outside influences, it is up to their constituents to fire them.

This is exactly what’s happening in Colorado with State Senate Majority leader John Morse facing a recall election starting on Aug. 20. Sen. Morse forgot about his constituents who elected him when he started taking his legislative orders from Mayor Bloomberg and the Brady Campaign, hastily ushering through a series of anti-gun laws in the wake of the tragedies in Aurora and Newtown. Federal dollars ignite new partnership for Kirtland’s warbler conservation

Kirtland's warblerFederal dollars are igniting a new conservation partnership in northeast Michigan. Huron Pines, a nonprofit organization, recently received $171,000 from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Joint Venture Habitat Restoration and Protection Program (Joint Venture Program). The Great Lakes Restoration Initiative funding will be used to plant 2 million jack pine seedlings in Kirtland’s warbler management areas, streamline community outreach programs and offer landowners cost-share opportunities. The Folly of Mayors Against Illegal Guns

On August 2, Executive Director of Mayors Against Illegal Guns Mark Glaze managed the twin feat of offering self-defense advice that surpassed Vice President Joseph Biden’s in its ignorance, while simultaneously making MSNBC’s Chris Matthews seem like a voice of reason on the topic.

While a guest on Matthews’ Hardball, the host discussed with Glaze whether he would consider an attacker wielding an ax handle as armed for the purpose of gauging whether the person’s victim should have the right to defend himself or herself with a gun, resulting in the following exchange:
