Springfield Armory Introduces the XD-M Elite 4.5″ OSP 10mm

GENESEO, ILL. – Springfield Armory® is proud to announce the newest addition to the popular XD-M® Elite series — the XD-M® Elite 4.5″ OSP™ 10mm. This highly capable 10mm, like all the XD-M Elites, redefines what you should expect from a modern, striker-fired firearm.

The XD-M Elite 4.5″ OSP 10mm combines impressive capacity with powerful performance. The 4.5″ match grade Melonite® finished barrel maximizes ballistic performance, and the highly ergonomic frame houses a double-column stainless steel magazine that provides a 16-round capacity. Two magazines are included with the pistol.

As an Optical Sight Pistol (OSP), the new XD-M Elite 4.5″ 10mm features a removable seamless cover plate that reveals a mounting interface for the optic of your choice, such as the HEX™ Dragonfly™ red dot or a wide range of other popular red dot optics. This is accomplished through the use of available mounting plates. The pistol is also offered packaged with a HEX Dragonfly red dot optic.

To facilitate quick reloads, the XD-M Elite 4.5″ OSP 10mm also features a removable extended and flared “short” magwell. While compact and unobtrusive, the magwell speeds rapid reloads of the 16-round magazines. The magazines themselves feature slightly extended baseplates to provide the impressive 16+1 capacity of the 10mm pistol and match up nicely with the short magwell.

At the heart of the pistol is the Match Enhanced Trigger Assembly (META™) system, a superbly refined trigger designed to wring out the most from the pistol’s most important interface with the shooter. Featuring a flat face and integral overtravel stop, the META system delivers the finest trigger pull available on a production polymer-framed pistol. Read more

Michigan DNR muskellunge egg collection underway on Detroit River and Lake St. Clair

Great Lakes muskellunge eggs currently are being collected from the Detroit River and Lake St. Clair by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. These fish will be reared at Wolf Lake State Fish Hatchery in Mattawan and Thompson State Fish Hatchery near Manistique and stocked in Michigan waters this fall.

In 2021, approximately 232,000 eggs were collected from the Detroit River. Those eggs produced nearly 30,000 fall fingerlings that were stocked in 19 inland lakes and rivers. No muskellunge are stocked in the Detroit River because the abundant Lake St. Clair-Detroit River muskellunge population is supported entirely by natural reproduction.

“The DNR’s goal this year is to collect at least 400,000 eggs to meet our target of 40,000 fall fingerlings for stocking our state’s waters,” said Ed Eisch, DNR fish production manager.

To collect the eggs, mature muskellunge are captured with electro-fishing gear in the Detroit River and Lake St. Clair. Collecting Great Lakes muskellunge is difficult in these areas because of the physical conditions associated with open water, especially in the spring.

As a safety precaution, the DNR requests boats on the water avoid coming close to the electrofishing boat during nighttime shocking work. Read more

FN Releases FN 15 DMR3 Rifles

(McLean, VA) FN America, LLC announces the release of three new FN 15® models in designated marksman rifle (DMR) configuration. In its third edition, the FN 15 DMR3 is now available in several new colors – matte black anodize, flat dark earth (FDE) or tungsten gray Cerakote. The FN 15 DMR3 has received several notable upgrades to enhance accuracy and curb felt recoil including a new 18-inch barrel, SureFire ProComp muzzle brake and Geissele two-stage trigger.

The all-new DMR3 is an extremely accurate and reliable rifle with an 18-inch Hybrid-profile that provides the just-right balance between rigidity for accuracy and a weight light enough for quick maneuverability. The cold hammer-forged barrel is chrome-lined with 1:8 twist made from FN’s proprietary machine gun barrel steel and features a rifle-length gas system with pinned low-profile gas block. Finished with a SureFire ProComp muzzle brake, felt recoil is drastically reduced and the rifle’s muzzle stays flat for faster shot-to-shot recovery.

The 14 5/8-inch aluminum handguard uses Hodge Defense’s wedge-lock technology for an extremely rigid setup that minimizes deflection and allows for a fully free-floated barrel, further aiding accuracy. It’s continuous MIL-STD Picatinny rail at 12 o’clock and multiple M-LOK attachment slots allow the user to fully customize the setup, with ample space for optics and other accessories. Read more
