Krieghoff Gun of the Year 2022 – “Naresuan the Great”

Travel back to the Kingdom of Ayutthaya, as Thailand was once known, and witness King Naresuan’s legendary duel with the Burmese crown prince, Mingyi Swa in great detail on the receiver’s left side. The Battle of the Satong River fills the opposite side of the receiver, showing King Naresuan routing the enemy troops with his legendary shot, thereby gaining Ayutthaya’s independence.

King Naresuan, nicknamed “the Great” for his success and popularity, pours out holy water on the receiver bottom, symbolically declaring the independence of Ayutthaya from Burma. The top latch features a familiar Thai symbol.

Engraver Creative Art meticulously captures each famous event in intricate detail, always highlighting “the Great” adorned in his majestic robes in fine gold detailing. Creative Art addresses every figure in great detail, engraving each in lifelike relief. Thai style ornamentation frames this one-of-a-kind work of art, providing the perfect finishing touch.

Valued at $145,000.00, “Naresuan the Great” sold shortly after its unveiling at the IWA Outdoor Classics international trade show happening now in Nuremberg, Germany.

SIG Says Enough, Sues Lawyer

After months of quietly discounting lawsuits filed by police officers alleging their P320 pistols have experienced “un-commanded discharges” SIG SAUER has apparently had enough. Yesterday, the Epping, New Hampshire company filed a federal lawsuit against attorney Jeffrey S. Bagnell and his law firm (Jeffrey S. Bagnell, Esq. LLC) alleging, among other things, that Bagnell and his firm have made “false and defamatory statements” regarding SIG’s P320 pistol.

Specifically, the suit alleges that Bagnell and his firm “published a plainly false and inaccurate animation of the SIG P320 in an effort to induce a belief in consumers that the P320 is unsafe, and to attract new clients for the Bagnell law firm.” The suit further alleges Bagnell’s animation includes “false depictions of key internal components” that are then used to support “false assertions about the mechanics of the firearm that are physically impossible.”

The “Sandhill Crane Finder”

You can find the nearest Sandhill Cranes as spring migration progresses by using the Sandhill Crane Finder (photos by Paul Konrad).

One of the first signs of spring is the call of Sandhill Cranes, followed by the sight of a migrating flock; then flock after flock. But where can you go for the ultimate spring crane experience in your area? Now you can refer to the “Sandhill Crane Finder,” provided by the International Crane Foundation. It’s common knowledge that the Platte River Valley in central Nebraska offers the most impressive concentration of cranes in the world, but there’s are a multitude of locations you can view, hear, and absorb exciting Sandhill Crane experiences in North America.

Spring Nest Boxes

The Duncraft Eco-Friendly Bluebird House is a good example of a standard-sized nest box for cavity nesting songbirds.
The Duncraft Eco Chickadee Bird House.

The advent of March signals it is time to prepare our nest boxes for the variety of cavity nesting birds ranging from wrens and bluebirds to screech owls and Wood Ducks. Whether or not the weather in your area shows it or not, it’s time to clean and repair our bird houses for the nesting season, as well as plan for new additions. If you want to install new nest boxes, the time is right to get started, or in northern climes, you may want to follow through on building a new one, make a purchase. Then consider if where to position nest boxes to attract the birds you prefer?

Installing and monitoring a bird house is fun, but it’s also an important part of benefitting birds. By providing an “artificial cavity” – a nest box – you are helping cavity nesting birds, which is a great conservation service. Of course, nest boxes don’t come in one size to fit all birds, nor will one location necessarily fit the habitat requirements of all cavity nesting birds. Indeed, there are a number of topics to be aware of when planning for a bird house in your yard – or another location in your area. First, nest boxes and bird houses are simply the same product by a different name.

Cavity-nesting Birds – Not all birds use nest boxes, but 88 species of North American birds do nest in cavities and will use nest boxes, ranging from chickadees to Barred Owls. Read more

CCRKBA: Anti-Gun Support for SCOTUS Nomination Raises Alarms

BELLEVUE, WA – The nomination of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to fill the vacancy on the U.S. Supreme Court following the retirement of Associate Justice Stephen Breyer later this year raises alarms, the Second Amendment Foundation said today.

“Just the endorsements Judge Jackson’s nomination is receiving should be enough to cause concern,” said SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb. “The nomination is being applauded by anti-gun billionaire Michael Bloomberg’s gun prohibition lobbying groups including Everytown for Gun Safety, Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action, and by the anti-gun Giffords Law Center and Brady group. There can be no stronger indication of where Judge Jackson stands on the individual right to keep and bear arms and how she might rule on Second Amendment issues.”

Judge Jackson has also been reversed by the District of Columbia Court of Appeals, for what Prof. Jonathan Turley described as “judicial overreach.”

“The high court doesn’t need another liberal activist justice on the bench,” Gottlieb observed, “especially where Second Amendment issues are concerned. We know it is inappropriate to ask a Supreme Court nominee how he or she would rule on possible upcoming cases, but considering the energetic support Judge Jackson’ nomination is already receiving from the gun ban lobby, such questions aren’t even necessary.

“When the nation’s most extreme gun control lobbying groups throw their weight behind a judicial nominee,” he added, “there should be no misconception about where that nominee is likely to stand on Second Amendment rights, and frankly, it’s disappointing. Read more

CCRKBA: State of the Union Speech Continued War on Gun Owners

BELLEVUE, WA – While Joe Biden began his State of the Union speech properly condemning Russia’s undeclared war on Ukraine, he used his bully pulpit to continue his own lifelong war on gun owners and the Second Amendment, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today.

“Biden’s remarks about gun control and his already-discredited claim about gun manufacturers being immune from lawsuits simply reinforced his reputation as a career gun prohibitionist who never let facts get in the way of a flippant falsehood,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “His claim that bans on so-called ‘assault weapons’ and original capacity magazines are ‘proven measures’ to reduce violent crime is demonstrably untrue. Just look at the FBI Uniform Crime Report.

“And we should note these are the same kinds of guns and magazines Ukrainian citizens are using to defend their freedom from a savage enemy bent on killing innocent civilians including women and children,” he stated. Read more
