Michigan: Delta County Pilot Uninjured After Emergency Landing

A Michigan Department of Natural Resources conservation officer was the first emergency responder to arrive Thursday at Indian Lake, located west of Manistique in Schoolcraft County, after a single-engine plane lost engine power, forcing the pilot from Escanaba to make an emergency landing on the lake. The pilot was alone in the plane and walked away from the crash with no injuries.

An Escanaba man successfully ditched his plane Thursday afternoon, after engine failure forced an emergency landing on the frozen surface of Indian Lake.

Mark Meyer, 62, had flown his single-engine plane from the Manistique Airport, and had logged about two hours of airtime when he lost power while practicing air maneuvers over the lake, which is located west of Manistique.

At 3:24 p.m., local dispatchers notified emergency responders that a plane circling Indian Lake was reportedly having engine troubles.

Meyer was unable to restart the engine and made his emergency landing on Indian Lake at 3:32 p.m. He was about eight miles from the airport. Read more

Military Warriors Support Foundation, Dunn Ranch, Host Hunt for Vets

San Antonio, TX – – January 21-23, 2022, Military Warriors Support Foundation’s Skills4Life program and the Dunn Ranch hosted an unforgettable bonding experience for Combat-Wounded Veterans. The purpose of this event was to provide Heroes with a much-needed opportunity to get out and enjoy nature and various outdoor activities.

Heroes had an excellent start to the week with superb weather for hunting with highs around 50-60 degrees. However, the animal’s cooperation was another story. Fully embracing these challenges in the field, our veterans kept on hunting the entire time with a firm resolve. As a result of their hard work, the group tagged two deer and a hog.

Despite the hardship during the hunt, these Warriors enjoyed great fellowship and camaraderie throughout their time together, making this event fulfilling for everyone involved. Moreover, the participants were pleased to meet the great author Mark Greathouse, a cousin of John Dunn. Mark gifted each Hero with a signed copy of Nueces Blood, his newest book and the fourth of the Tumbleweed Sagas.

During this event, the participants learned how to load, shoot and reload old flintlock rifles. They utilized this knowledge at the range, and each of them fired five shots. Everyone expressed a tremendous appreciation for the Heroes who came before them who had to use these weapons on the battlefield. Read more

“The whole world is watching, but gun owners around the world can actually be helping,” said Alan Gottlieb, founder and executive vice president of the Second Amendment Foundation. “We’re calling on our fellow gun owners and rights activists to support Zbroya, the Ukranian Gun Owners Association (UGOA).

UGOA is a member organization of the International Association for the Protection of Civilian Arms Rights(IAPCAR), which SAF spearheaded and helped organize more than a decade ago. Now, more than ever, gun owners in Ukraine are in dire need of support, because civilian arms rights has never been more important in that nation.

As we’ve said before, the justices of the Supreme Court should, and indeed must, do what the Constitution’s text and liberty compel. One need not look further than the current Russian invasion of Ukraine to fully comprehend that the human right to keep and bear arms is as relevant and necessary today as ever.

Judge Jackson, who served for a time as an assistant public defender, should have first-hand experience of just how evil and corrupt the criminal justice system is, using coercive plea bargaining to avoid constitutionally required jury trials and putting people in cages for non-violent possessory offenses such as merely possessing common semi-automatic firearms or carrying a handgun without a license in New York, California, and other states where governments are openly hostile to the Second Amendment rights of peaceable individuals.
