Escort’s PS Turkey Hunter

Escort’s PS Turkey Hunter

Escort’s proven PS line of semi-automatic shotguns are now available in turkey-specific models. The PS Turkey Hunter is available in 12-GA, 20-GA, and .410-Cal and is tailored with the turkey shooter in mind. Common to many Escort semi-automatic shotguns, the PS Turkey Hunter features Hatsan’s FAST Loading System and Smart Valve Piston technologies. The FAST Loading System enables faster and easier loading with one hand and without the need to change shooting position. The loading button acts as both a carrier latch release for loading and the bolt release when the bolt is locked back. This gun’s Smart Valve Piston will cycle 7/8 oz, 2 ¾” up to 3″ full magnum loads, credited to its self-regulating design. This patented design is so reliable that one can mix heavy and light loads in the same magazine without a hiccup.

The PS Turkey Hunter is available in two camo patterns: Realtree APG® and Mossy Oak BottomLand®. Each gun ships with 3 interchangeable chokes suitable for a variety of turkey hunting situations. A 5-inch long cantilever optics rail features 4 cross-slots to accommodate a variety of Weaver mounts. The gun is also equipped with bright fiber optic front and rear sights for low-light hunting. The red front fiber is windage adjustable while the green fiber rear sight is both windage and elevation adjustable. Both fibers can be removed entirely to make way for mounted optics. All of Hatsan’s barrels are hard chrome lined for maximum durability and corrosion resistance. Read more

Ameristep® Pro Series™ Extreme View™Blind Opens More Shot Angles

Grand Prairie, TX – Blinds are outright deadly when the placement is strategically located, and the view is right. The downside to many blinds is the ironic blindspots. There is nothing worse than watching a dream buck disappear because the blind didn’t have an opening for the shot placement.

The new Ameristep® Pro Series™ Extreme View™ Blind solves this problem without sacrificing concealment. The blind utilizes one-way, see-through mesh for the perfect view without silhouetting the hunter or revealing gaps that would alert game. The door and panel next to the door do not have windows so hunters can sit back to take full advantage of the 12 mesh windows and a full 270-degrees of visibility and room to shoot.

The interior pentagon shape leaves plenty of space for multiple hunters to move and shoot without noise. It has an exceptional 37% larger footprint than most blinds and is rated for up to three hunters, plus room to store gear. The blind also features a full-size door that makes entry and exit quiet and easy. Archery hunters will love having the space to hold a draw while shifting angles to get the perfect shot. The windows also feature silent slide adjustments for opening quietly when needed. Read more

Michigan DNR walleye egg collection on Muskegon River starts Thursday

Muskegon River anglers should be on the lookout for Michigan Department of Natural Resources personnel collecting walleye eggs below Croton Dam this spring. Electrofishing boats will be on the water this week, starting Thursday, March 25, and work should conclude by April 16. People who want to avoid the walleye collection activities should fish downstream.

The DNR asks the public to use caution when fishing near the electrofishing boats. Anyone wading nearby when boats approach will be asked to exit the water to ensure everyone’s safety.

To maintain effective social distancing and allow fisheries staff to safely, efficiently collect eggs, the DNR also asks people not to gather at egg collection sites.

“The annual Muskegon River egg take is a critical operation for statewide walleye management,” said Jim Dexter, DNR Fisheries Division chief. “We’re planning to collect about 32 million walleye eggs during this effort.”

That collective egg take will result in fry (fish that have just hatched) for transfer to rearing ponds and direct fry plants throughout the Lower Peninsula. Walleye fry transferred to ponds will be raised to fingerling size (approximately 1.5 to 2.5 inches) and stocked in late spring or early summer in lakes and rivers throughout the state. Read more

SAF, Partners Challenge NJ Gun Laws in Federal Lawsuit

BELLEVUE, WA – The Second Amendment Foundation today filed a federal lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the state’s restrictive gun laws, alleging in a 28-page complaint that “New Jersey laws…unconstitutionally restrict the acquisition of firearms.”

SAF is joined by the Association of New Jersey Rifle & Pistol Clubs, Inc., the New Jersey Second Amendment Society, the Coalition of New Jersey Firearms Owners, the Firearms Policy Coalition, Bob’s Little Sport Shop, Inc., and three private citizens. They are represented by attorneys David H. Thompson, Peter A. Patterson and Joseph O. Masterman at Cooper & Kirk, PLLC in Washington, D.C., Daniel L. Schmutter at Hartman & Winnicki, P.C. in Ridgewood, N.J. and David D. Jensen at David Jensen & Associates, Beacon, N.Y.

The lawsuit is known as Kendrick v. Grewal.

Named as defendants in the complaint, which was filed in U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, are New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal, State Police Supt. Patrick J. Callahan, Bridgeton Police Chief Michael Giamari, Harrison Township Police Chief Ronald A. Cundey and Glassboro Police Chief John Polillo, in their official capacities.

“This legal action has been a long time coming, ever since Carol Bowne of Berlin Township was murdered in her own driveway in 2015 while waiting for her firearm permit to be processed,” said SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb. “The hoops one must go through and waits one must endure, plus the fees attached has resulted in a complicated process that delays approval far beyond what existing state law allows. California Forced to Comply in Sharp v. Becerra Rifle Registration Case

BELLEVUE, WA – After two years of litigation over a botched computer program to register so-called “assault weapons” in California, a settlement has been reached between the state and all parties involved, the Second Amendment Foundation revealed.

The case is known as Sharp v. Becerra. In 2016, the California Legislature created a new “assault weapon” classification requiring registration. But there was a problem with the online registration process that prevented gun owners from actually complying before the July 1, 2018 deadline, so a lawsuit was filed by several parties including SAF, the Firearms Policy Coalition, Calguns Foundation, Firearm Policy Foundation and the Madison Society Foundation, along with several private citizens.

“Under this agreement,” said SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb, “California must reopen the registration process for all individuals who possessed eligible firearms, and reimburse all plaintiffs. California DOJ is required to announce the re-opened registration period and provide notice to other known gun rights groups and law firms. This requirement especially applies to every person who called or emailed the DOJ to complain about being unable to register before or after the original deadline. The department must also conduct a public outreach campaign to notify the public about the reopened registration period.

“It’s fair to say our lawsuit prevented guns from being banned and confiscated, and their owners from being prosecuted,” he stated. Read more
