Sacramento – Republican Senators have sent a letter to Senate Leader, Darrell Steinberg, expressing their concern over the unjustified campaign Animal Rights activists have waged against Department of Fish and Game Commission President Dan Richards. Richards was photographed with a mountain lion he legally took in Idaho. That photograph was recently published in a hunting magazine. “Mr. Richards has not broken one law. In the state of Idaho it is perfectly legal to take down a mountain lion. After all, there are lots of states that don’t follow California’s lead on every issue,” said Harman.
PUT-IN-BAY – Students interested in environmental science and policy have a unique opportunity for a summer class: a three-week trip across the Great Lakes on the tall ship Brig Niagara, a replica of Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry’s flagship from the Battle of Lake Erie during the War of 1812. The course, which is offered as a partnership between Ohio State University’s Stone Laboratory, Niagara University, and Penn State University, will introduce students to hands-on lake science and Great Lakes policy issues while allowing them to experience life aboard an authentic wooden naval warship. This just in: Unrest cancels Outdoor Legends Tour….late news yesterday that the portions of the Paralyzed Veterans of America/Armed Forces Entertainment Outdoor Legends Tour scheduled to visit servicemen at bases in Southeast Asia has been postponed. We’re told the situation in Afghanistan with the protests over the burning of Qurans made the trip too-dangerous. The non-Afghanistan portion of the trip is proceeding.

Three Florida men, including Mark Morse, the owner of The Villages, an exclusive retirement community, admitted to misdemeanor hunting violations Friday and were ordered to pay fines and restitution.
As part of a plea agreement, Montana Assistant Attorney General Barbara Harris filed the amended misdemeanor charge in place of two previously filed felony charges and a misdemeanor charge related to alleged illegal hunting on a ranch owned by Morse that straddles Yellowstone and Big Horn counties.
