The Department of Natural Resources (Department) is committed to understanding our partners’ impressions of the Department. As we strategically plan for our future and the future of our natural resources, we would like your help.

We would like to know your opinions about the Department’s strengths and weaknesses and the threats and opportunities that face the Department and natural resource management over the next five years. We also want to know more about how our partners are involved in natural resource management and outdoor recreation. We are using a variety of tools to collect this information including focus groups, phone interviews, a statewide citizen survey, Department employee survey and this survey of partners. A Detroit man accused of fatally shooting a customer in a dispute over the price of condoms has been charged with first-degree murder.

Michael Haynes was shot in the back early Saturday after knocking over shelves of merchandise in a fit of rage.  GW:  Maybe they are too costly.

Sportsmen Urge BLM to Move Cautiously on Plans for Oil Shale Development in West

SILT, Colo. – As federal officials consider how to move forward on oil shale development, a sportsmen’s coalition is urging caution because no proven technology exists and the impacts on the West’s public lands, fish, wildlife, water and air quality are unknown.

In Ten Years NSSF Awards $4.7 Million to State Agencies

NEWTOWN, Conn. — The National Shooting Sports Foundation® has in ten years awarded $4.7 million in grants to 40 state wildlife agencies to fund projects providing novice and experienced hunters with more opportunities to go afield and new resources to plan hunts. Cannonball Kills Woman

POTRERO, Calif. (AP) — California authorities indicate a 33-year-old San Diego County woman was killed by a cannonball fired by her husband and another man.  U-T San Diego reports the woman was found dead at about 12:15 a.m. Tuesday after the ball slammed into her home at the Twin Lakes Resort mobile home park in Potrero,near the Mexican border.  State fire Capt. Mike Mohler says the men told authorities they were working on the cannon nearby when it went off. and one man was treated at a hospital for injuries he suffered when the cannon went off.

I think maybe the cannon needs more work…GW
