An article appearing on TheHill.com yesterday asserted that Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.V.) is working on a bill with the NRA that would implement universal background checks.
NRA does NOT support universal background checks and is not working with Manchin to implement this type of legislation. NRA opposes, and will continue to oppose, universal background checks and registration schemes.
We do believe that records of those who are prohibited by law from purchasing firearms (including those whose mental health history puts them in this category) ought to be included in the federal instant check system.

Another move is afoot in Michigan to allow concealed pistols in “gun-free zones”. Supporters appear to have given facilities an opt-out provision – one which was missing when Governor Snyder vetoed similar legislation at the end of last year. More here…

Now the liberals are pressing for banks not to do business with gun manufacturers. So, here we have Washington using tax dollars to support businesses that go bankrupt, while Democrat leaders attempt to run successful, legal busineeses into the ground. More here…
In a Fox News survey, two-thirds of Americans said they would “defy” a federal gun ban and keep their guns if the government ever passed a law to “take your guns.”
The survey asked respondents, “If the government passed a law to take your guns, would you give up your guns or defy the law and keep your guns?”
Sixty-five percent of those surveyed said they would “defy the law.” Specifically, 70% of Republicans, 68% of conservatives, 52% of Democrats, and 59% of liberals said they would “defy” a federal gun ban to keep their guns.
The poll surveyed 1,008 registered U.S. voters between Jan. 15-17.
